In Loving Memory

Meyer, William Angus

Sunday, August 21, 2022.

Beloved husband of Alicia “Lece” Meyer (nee Holmes); loving father of Christopher Meyer and Rebecca (Justin) Worrell; adoring grandpa of Caroline Grace and Riley Cate Meyer and Hattie Raux Worrell; dear brother of Richard (the late Leslie) and David (Barb) Meyer, Margie (Jim) Eisenbarth, Jeannine (Craig) Duwe and Joann (David) Ross and the late Donald (surviving Marilyn) Meyer. Our dearest brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.

“Bill”, “Bones”, “PaPa”, “Meyer”, “Coach”, “Billy”, “Uncle Bill, “pop-a-cater”, “DAD”.

Whatever name you knew him by, you were lucky to know him!

Bill was born February 15, 1947, the 5th of 7 kids to Gordon & Grace Meyer.  His childhood home was on Meyer Lane (now Whitecliff Park), the same property as his Grandparents William & Hattie Meyer, as well as many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.   He attended Lindbergh High School where he was an outstanding wrestler and football player.  After graduation in 1966, he went to further his education at what was then Southeast Missouri State University, SEMO.  There some high school friends fixed him up on a blind date, that led to marriage.  Lece and Bill were married in 1969.  Bill was drafted into the army during the Viet Nam conflict, and he served as an MP for his 2-year tour of duty.

Bill and Lece returned to St. Louis in 1971, with their baby son Chris and soon welcomed daughter Becky.  After 52 years of marriage, the Meyer family now includes son in law Justin and 3 precious granddaughters who Bill adores.   Bill was an extraordinary brick mason with a master craftsman’s eye to detail and loved designing brick patios, fireplaces and mailboxes in addition to all the houses he built.  He was an avid softball & racquetball player, little league wrestling coach and assistant girls’ softball coach at Notre Dame HS.

Bill was humble and easily made friends, some of those friendship’s have lasted over 50 years.  His smile, oh that smile, it lit up his face and made everyone feel they had an immediate friend.  Bill had a positive influence on many lives.  He loved his family, friends and his Church.  He was peacefully welcomed into the arms of his Savior, Jesus, on August 21, 2022.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON Chapel 10151 Gravois, Thursday August 25, 5:00-8:00 PM and on Friday August 26 at The Crossing at Grant’s Trail (2760 Union Rd. 63125) at 10:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Lucas Cemetery.
