In Loving Memory

Barczewski, Joni Rae (nee Billings)

February 13, 1958 - July 22, 2023

Beloved mother of Nathan (Maggie), Zachary (Pamela), Alexandra (Christopher), Ian (Mary), and Madison (David). Adoring Grandmother to Penelope, Walter, and Kaia. Devoted sister to Sharon, Scott (Angie), and Amy (Pat). Caring aunt and dear friend to many. Preceded in death by her loving parents, Donald and Ruth Joan Billings.

Passionate about and dedicated to her children, Joni volunteered countless hours around Bayless School District and Affton Athletic Association. She opened her home to all of her kids’ friends, whom she treated as her own.

She was a fun and creative woman who loved taking on craft projects around the house. An incredible seamstress, she could hand sew amazing Halloween costumes, holiday outfits, and dresses that dazzled homecomings, proms, and even weddings.

In 2018, she was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and defied the odds to attend three more of her kids’ weddings and welcome two more beautiful grandchildren.

She succumbed to a second bout on July 22nd, loved by her family until the end.

She will be celebrated on August 6th, 2023 at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123. Visitation will start at 10:00AM, with the memorial starting at 1:00PM. In lieu of cards or flowers, kindly consider a donation in her memory to the Washington University School of Medicine Division of Oncology Patient Care Fund, which provides direct monetary assistance to Siteman Cancer Center patients in serious need of financial support.
