April 18, 1963 - January 15, 2025

Schaeffer, Lucia “Lucy” (nee Brancato) passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday January 15, 2025.

Lucy was born in Liege, Belgium on April 18, 1963. Lucy moved with her parents to the United States in 1970 at age 7. She learned English from the teachers at St. Ambrose and St Joan of Arc. Lucy graduated from Bishop Du Berg high school in 1982 and spent much of her career working in various positions within the medical field.

Beloved wife of Daniel J. Schaeffer for 37 years. Dear mother of Daniel, jr (Cassie) Schaeffer and Stephanie (Taylor) Newton. Dear Mimi to Angelina and Giovanna Newton. Dear daughter of Angela and the late Salvatore Brancato. Dear Daughter-in-law of Alan Schaeffer and the late Marian Schaeffer. Dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.

Lucy was very close to the Lord and would spend much of her time praying and enjoyed listening to religious songs. Special thank you to Karol Fischer for spending each Wednesday reading bible stories and praying and singing with her.

Services: Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123 on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 4pm – 8pm. Funeral mass Wednesday January 22, 2025 10am at St. Martin of Tours. 610 W Ripa Ave. St. Louis, MO. 63125. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery following mass. 6901 Mackenzie Road St. Louis, MO 63123

  2. While I only met Lucy once, at Taylor and Stephanie’s wedding reception, I know how much she meant to her entire family, especially Stephanie, Lina and Gia. My prayers are for peace and comfort during the difficult time.
