October 12, 1957 - March 24, 2025

Gary R. Bentrup of St. Louis passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 67.

A devoted husband, loving dad, Gpa, brother, uncle, and son, Gary was passionate about watching the Cardinals and Blues, discussing sports and politics, and, most of all spending time with his family and, in particular, his grandchildren. Gary was known for his love of beer, music and a good time.

Gary is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his son, Brian (Natalia), his grandchildren, Sofia and Brady, his mother, Frances, his brothers, Richard (Sharon), Michael (Maria) and Joseph, and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Rita.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 31st from 11:30am – 1:30pm at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois Rd, St. Louis, MO 63123 followed by a service at 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lions Club of St. Louis South Side.

  4. My sincerest condolences to Gary’s family that you have lost this precious one. We met through a chance phone call, and stayed business go to and friends for several years until we retired.
    Next time I tip one up, Gary, it will be for our last one.

  5. I was very fortunate to know Gary. I not only considered him a customer, but a friend. He always greeted me with a smile and wanted to know how my family was doing. He always went above and beyond. He will be missed. RIP Gary

  6. I had the pleasure of working with Gary when he was at Corporate Express and I worked at Washington University. He always was helpful when I needed to order special items.

  7. Gary and I have been friends for over 30 years and he has always been the same – good natured, fun to be around, and his sense of humor that made us all laugh. We met at work and everybody we worked with considered it a pleasure to work with him. There is no doubt that he will be missed by so many people. Gary, we will never forget you, Rest in Peace.

  8. Gary and his wife Cheryl were regulars at a brewery I worked at for a few years. They were always a joy to talk to and Gary and Cheryl both were always smiling and laughing and taking a keen interest in my and my coworkers lives. He will be missed. ❤️

  10. Uncle Gary, you will be greatly missed! You were one of the most laid back, kind people I know (unless you were losing at Madden while playing my dad, ha!). I hope you have found rest and you and Rita are chatting it up.

  12. Well Gary we had a beer or two in your honor after the service. All the UCBC guys went to hug our Schlafly friends at the Tap Room and it felt like you were there. Your brother did the best eulogy ever! He had us laughing but we also ran out of kleenex. If I’d have known about the Madden thing I’d have totally smoked you. You can’t blitz me and if you try a cover 2 I’m just gonna run slants to the outside all day. Anyway, love you sir.
