In Loving Memory

Cantrell, Beverly Ruth (nee Meyers)

March 14, 1937 - February 22, 2025

Beverly R. Cantrell (Meyers), born March 14, 1937, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her husband, David B. Cantrell and her grandson, Leland Shanle, III, among others, Saturday, February 22, 2025. She was surrounded by her three daughters, Eva Klaus, Laura Shanle and Genny Griffin and their husbands, Dan Klaus, Chip Shanle and Dan Griffin. In the days leading up to her passing she was visited by her grandchildren, great-grandson, and several friends she had made at Manor Grove. She, and her quick wit, will be sorely missed by all.

Except for a short time, Beverly lived her whole life in the St. Louis area. She grew up in the city and eventually moved to Maplewood and then to Webster Groves. She married David Cantrell on May 30, 1956 and moved to California while Dave was in the Marine Corps. This was where Eva was born. Eventually they moved back to St. Louis where Laura and Genny were born. She enjoyed dancing, singing, crocheting, her bowling league and team and mostly her family. She took the girls to see historical homes in St. Louis, the Zoo, The Muny and Forest Park plus picnics at Rockwoods Reservation several times while they were growing up. She loved traveling to wherever the Navy sent Laura and Chip, and she enjoyed all six of her wonderful grandchildren: Leland (Ashley), David, Kaitlyn (Matt) and William (Annie) Shanle, Clare and Lisa (Evan) Griffin and her great-grandson, Leland C. Shanle, IV (Charlie).

The Celebration of Life will be at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton, Thursday, March 6, 2025, with visitation beginning at 10am and the service commencing at 12noon followed by internment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

There will also be a gathering for family and friends following at Llywelyn’s Pub in Webster Groves.
