  1. Mrs. Gonsalves was one of a handful of teachers who greeted us every morning at the kindergarten dropoff at SCL. She was out there in all winds and all weathers and never complained (or when she did complain, it totally made sense to do so!). I appreciated her good nature. She obviously loved her job. She chatted with my son about what they were going to do in STEM class in the final weeks of school. My son loved the dinosaur unit in her class, and when she said she loved dinos too, I knew she meant it!

So sad that this happened as she was just embarking on her retirement. Deepest condolences to her family. What a loss to the SCL family and to her own dearest ones.

  4. It is hard for me to believe the sweet little girl I used to babysit is gone. As a woman we would often run into each in odd places and have long conversations of places we have been and places we wanted to go. The world lost of gentle, kind soul and now there is one more we will see again in our next life.

  11. Laura and I met over 40 years ago working at Lemay Bank. She was a sweet, kind, caring person and I loved being her friend. As time went on we would text, wish each other happy holidays… and always meet for lunch in November for our birthdays. I will greatly miss that. To her family… my deepest sympathy for this devastating loss, you are in my prayers.

  13. I had the privilege of getting to know Laura in a church group. She immediately made you feel at ease with her kind heart and easy laugh. I enjoyed the thoughtful and steadfast way in which she shared her faith with the us and more importantly the way she lived that faith. When she spoke of her family and her work her love for both clearly shone through. I pray for the family and for all who have lost her light in their lives.

  14. We are deeply saddened to hear of Your loss.
Laura will always be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and caring soul.
We think of her every time we see a Downey Woodpecker like the one she rescued in downtown St.Louis many years ago.
We released it and it flew straight up towards heaven and lighted on a high branch.
We like to believe that the many we see at our feeders daily are from the bird that Laura saved.🐦

  16. May her spirit rise gently
into the arms of the Lord,

    where sorrow cannot follow
where love is all that remains.
where every creature is held in peace
and every soul is known by name.

May she walk in fields of quiet light,

surrounded by the animals she loved
    their trust, their warmth,
    their simple, devotion
    woven into her forever.

May her spirit move beside you

    a quiet warmth,
    a breath of peace,
    a whisper reminding you
    that love is never lost.

And may the Holy One hold you close

reminding you in small, tender moments
    a bird at the window,
a dog or cat’s gentle nudge,
    a soft breeze
    steadying your steps,
    softening your grief,
    carrying you through the days
knowing her love is still near,
    still alive,
    still yours.
