Shirlene Grigaitis

In Loving Memory

Grigaitis, Shirlene Delores (nee Marlotte)

July 1, 1926 - April 9, 2024

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, left this world to join her husband of 64 years, John, on April 9, 2024, less than 3 months shy of her 98th birthday.

Born on July 1, 1926 in St. Louis to Theodore and Helen (nee McCarthy) Marlotte.

She is preceded in death by her husband John, grandbaby Anna, and grandson Todd; her parents, brothers Ted, Ed, and Ray.

She is survived by her 10 children, 32 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.  And her sister Duane Coleman.

Loving Mother to Gina, Stephen (Helen), Michael (Mary Jo), John (Marla), Rick (Heidi), David (Shelly), Gregg (Sharon), Christina (Gery), Kimberly, Jennifer (Brent).

Grandmother and Nana to Steven, Cara, Elise, Amy, Emily, Mikey, Maggie, Gina, John, Julie, Kyle, Kelly, Haley, Ricci, Vitas, Amber, Davis, Ava, Jack, Joseph, Daniel, Maria, Natalie, Ashley, Courtney, Mary, Sophie, Luke, Grace, and Vivianne.

Great grandmother to Dominic, Adalina, Alliana, Cora, Aubrey, Aiden, Teddy, Annabel, Millie, Ellie, Gabriel, Rosie, Ada, Otto, Mira, John, Charlie, Connor, Webb, Aria, Olivia, Jack, Stella, Hartford, Rafferty, Cyrus, Harrison, Oliver, Kennedy, Nico, Kathleen, and Freyja; Aunt, cousin, and friend.

Graduate of St. John the Baptist Class of 1944. Worked at Harris Langenberg for several years after high school before devoting her life entirely to her husband and family.

A devout Catholic who loved her Church and sacrificed much to provide each of her children with twelve years of private Catholic school education.

In later years she enjoyed travelling with her husband while maintaining a welcoming home to all who entered.

She loved and adored babies, and crocheted a baby blanket for each of her grandchildren.

She was an avid reader of books and the newspaper, and she enjoyed her crossword puzzles, gardening, her Sunday night date with PBS Masterpiece Theater, telling stories of her youth, and the friends she made as a Heavenly Duster at Our Lady of Providence.

Most of all, she loved her husband and ever-growing family every day she lived on this earth. We will miss her dearly.

SERVICES: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL (10151 Gravois Rd 63123) on Wednesday, April 17th, 10:30 AM for 11:00 AM Mass at Our Lady of Providence Catholic Church (8866 Pardee Rd 63123). Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
