Elias-Hitti

In Loving Memory

Hitti, Elias Sarkis

Elias Sarkis Hitti passed on into Eternal Life on Saturday, May 6th, 2023.

Elias was born in the town of Mejdlaya in north Lebanon to Sarkis and Mariana Hitti  (nee Baini) as the fourth of nine children.

He moved from Lebanon to St. Louis, Missouri in 1961 to attend college and graduated from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

What brought Elias the most joy in life was spending time with his family, especially the love of his life and best friend, his wife Nazha. His motto in life was “Nothing is Impossible”, and he always bestowed that belief to his family. Elias loved to laugh and was known for his incredible sense of humor.

He was a devout Maronite Catholic who possessed a strong faith in God. Elias was very proud of his Lebanese heritage.  He had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing old Lebanese folk songs and prayers. He had a big heart and was very selfless in helping those who emigrated from Lebanon during the Lebanese Civil War to begin their new lives in St. Louis.  His kindness and generosity is remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Elias is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Nazha; sons Joe, Sarkis, Antoine; daughter Lisa; and two sisters Akleh and Joandark; and many nieces and nephews in Lebanon and Australia.

Services: Visitation is at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 13th with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, at St. Raymond’s Maronite Cathedral. Interment after at Oak Hill Cemetery  and Mercy Meal to follow at The Cedars Hall 931 Lebanon Dr., St. Louis, MO 63104.
