Berdina's memorial service

In Loving Memory

Imhof, Agnes Berdina

February 27, 1929 - June 13, 2026

Agnes Berdina Imhof (née Carrigan), age 97, passed peacefully into the loving embrace of Our Lord on June 13, 2026.

Born on February 27, 1929, in Westville, Nova Scotia, Canada, Berdina was the daughter of Alphonsus Carrigan Sr. and Agnes Jane Hayden (born MacKinnon). Born of humble Scottish and Irish descent, she was raised among a proud Carrigan family whose roots were deeply tied to the coal mines, farms, and merchant traditions of Pictou and Antigonish Counties. Her Irish ancestors emigrated from Carrick-on-Suir, on the Tipperary-Waterford border of Ireland, while her Scottish heritage traced through the Highland clans of Nova Scotia. Those humble beginnings helped shape the resilience, faith, work ethic, and devotion to family that defined her throughout her life.

Following her marriage in 1957 to Charles “Chuck” Imhof, a player for the Westville Miners baseball team, Berdina immigrated to the United States, where she became a proud first-generation American and remained deeply patriotic throughout her life while always cherishing her Canadian roots. A devout Roman Catholic, Berdina lived her faith daily through prayer, compassion, and devotion. Her unwavering trust in God sustained her through life’s joys and challenges and served as an enduring example to her family and friends. Her special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary remained a source of comfort and strength throughout her life.

Berdina was preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Charles Frederick Imhof Sr., who passed away in 2015. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cora Lee Imhof; her son, Eric Joseph Imhof; her sister, Margaret Carrigan; her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Don Rice; her brother and sister-in-law, Alphonsus and Helen Carrigan; her brother-in-law Tom Hayden, and her sisters-in-law, Rosmond Brunner, Sophia Uncapher, and Barbara Cobbett.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Cindy Ann Eggers; her son, Charles Frederick Imhof Jr., and his wife, Maria (née Capasso); her son, Kirk Anthony Imhof, and his husband, David Bolus; her son, Dr. Carl Imhof, and his wife, Tracey (née Hill); and her sister, Mary Hayden (née Carrigan).

Berdina was the cherished grandmother of Casey Hardin (husband Billy Hardin), Kelly Eggers, Danny Eggers, Eric Eggers (husband Chenchen Mao), Nicole Imhof, Esq. (fiancé Eli Aday), Jennifer Imhof, Charlie Imhof, Coramei Imhof, and Kai Imhof.

She was the proud great-grandmother of Brody Hardin, Bryce Hardin, Brewer Hardin, and Brendan Hardin. She also looked forward with great joy to the arrival of her first great-great-grandchild, the expectant child of Brendan Hardin and Maelynn Davie.

Berdina also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness, generosity, and genuine interest in their lives.

To her family, Berdina was a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. Though barely five feet tall and seldom weighing more than 110 pounds, she possessed a strength of character that far exceeded her physical stature. Through life’s hardships, losses, illnesses, and challenges, she endured with remarkable courage, determination, resilience, and faith. Guided by her love of family and unwavering trust in God, she faced adversity with grace and perseverance, earning the admiration of all who knew her.

Yet her life was defined by far more than the challenges she faced. It was filled with laughter, love, friendship, family gatherings, cherished memories, and the simple joys of everyday life. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren, delighted in the accomplishments of each new generation, and found happiness in the company of those she loved. Her long life was a testament to faith, family, love, and devotion to those she held dear.

While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the values she instilled, and the seeds of faith she planted in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.

As Catholics, we take comfort and place our hope in Christ’s promise of eternal life. We commend Berdina to the loving mercy of God, praying that she may now enjoy the fullness of His presence and be reunited with her beloved husband, son, daughter, and all those who have gone before her in faith, trusting in His promise of resurrection and the communion of saints.

  1. Mom I love you! You won the fight of life and now you can enjoy your prize with the Heavenly Father, Mother Mary, the Angels and Saints along with dad and family. Your suffering brought you closer to God and your offering of pain has helped the souls in purgatory and on earth. You and dad are soul mates and now you can be together for eternity. I love you, I am proud of you, and I am honored to be called your son. Rest in peace – you have earned it!

    I miss you, Grandma Dee
    You are so very loved
I hope that you are happy
    Looking down from above

    Pressure builds behind my eyes
    Trying not to cry
When Mother Mary took your hand
    The memories crystallized

    She was unapologetically herself
    Authenticity or there’s the door
Of all the years we’ve had with you
I wish we had just one more

    Back porch chats and sandwiches
    (Even when we weren’t hungry)
    Pevely flea market trips
    Basement dancing and karaoke

    Block parties on Kathleen
    Vacations with oceans and sand
    Plenty of family gatherings
Always cake and bread on hand

    Canada born and raised
    Irish heritage in your core
Rich in all the best ways
    Humbled with life’s candour

I pray that you are overjoyed
    Reuniting with souls you’ve missed
    Heaven gates open wide
    So much to reminisce

    No longer in pain
    Your spirit can now soar
    The warmth of Jesus
    Welcoming you through the door
