Uncle Mel was the best. He has been a part of our immediate family made doubly good by marrying his brother’s sister-in-law, Irene. (Brothers married sisters) which made our family gatherings doubly loved. He was a fun travel companion on many trips we took together with both my mom and dad (Steve and Dolores) and my husband (Gary). He was a good golf companion also. We have missed him since we moved to Florida, but always enjoyed our visits when we came into town. Will miss him even more now!
I remember Mel because he was our mailman for many years as well as a member of St. George parish, to which my husband and I also belonged. He was the nicest person. I’m so sorry to hear that he passed.
Irene,
It’s been so long since we have seen each other. We’re so sorry for your loss. I had many fun times playing golf with Mel. Such a nice guy! And several office Christmas dinner dances with both of you. It was such a pleasure working with you at MoDOT. I never knew that Mel was a veteran! Sorry that we can’t make the services. We’ll make a donation to the Salvation Army in Mel’s memory.
Best wishes,
Paul & Georgia Newby
