Dee was born on August 11, 1944, in Seward, Nebraska. She spent many years on her grandparents’ farm near the Big Blue River. Those years shaped her love of farming, cooking, gardening, and animals, especially horses. She rode horses throughout her life and participated in multi-day trail rides throughout the 1970s and 80s. Her love of horses and riding continued until her late sixties.
She enjoyed vacations with her children, especially warm sunny days on the beach. After retirement in 2011, she enjoyed volunteering for several organizations, and spent many hours sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidering, and quilting items for several nonprofits as well as her family members. When she wasn’t watching a John Wayne movie or classic Western, she enjoyed reading. She found adventure and inspiration within the pages. Her favorite was the Outlander book series.
When she wasn’t volunteering, she enjoyed working in the garden and cooking for her family. She was an amazing cook, and her famous pies delighted friends and schoolteachers alike, and were the highlight of every family holiday celebration.
The family would like to thank all her wonderful friends at The Village at Mackenzie Place. She loved volunteering in the community garden and working with other community members to help local charity organizations.
