Melbourne, Jr., Joseph F.

November 28, 1935 - March 31, 2025

Joseph Francis Melbourne, Jr., also known as Joe, was the son of the late Joseph Francis Melbourne, Sr., and Gladys (Evans) Melbourne. Joe was born on November 28th, 1935, and left this earth for the streets of Heaven on March 30th, 2025, at the age of 89. 

Joe attended Monroe Elementary School and Hadley Technical High School. Upon graduating, Joe proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Arcadia AD23, a destroyer tender, from 1955 to 1958. After returning from the Navy, Joe attended truck driving school and fulfilled his dream of becoming a truck driver.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Petsch on July 18th, 1978. They spent 46 years together, and Joe loved her with all his heart. In his youth, he attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church with his family. During this time, he came to know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret Melbourne; his son, Darren Melbourne; his sister, Jan Allen; and his nephew, Frank Allen. He is survived by his children, Joe Melbourne and his wife, Candy; Sharon Payne and her husband, Mike; Shane Melbourne; Donna Ebenrick and her husband, Jack; Gina Boxdorfer; Cheryl Bloch and her husband, Bob; Chuck Petsch; Chris Petsch; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sandra Poole and Jeanie Lay; his brothers, Dennis and Phil Melbourne; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.

Services: Memorial visitation at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Road Friday, April 11, 10am until service at 11:30 am.  Inurnment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

  1. Uncle Joe was a very special man who never spoke a harsh word about any one and was willing to give anyone the shirt off his back. He will truly be missed. Fond memories of him saying the blessing at the Melbourne clan family gatherings. Rest in peace. You deserve it. Jimmy and Sally Poole
