In Loving Memory

Mellos, Spyridon Thomas

February 24, 1947 - April 18, 2026

Saturday, April 18, 2026.

Beloved husband of Georgia Mellos (nee Makos); loving father of Kassiani Mellos and Anthoula Mellos; adoring Papou of Stevi, Aiden and Madilynn; cherished son of the late Thomas and Kassiani Mellos; dear brother of Elefterios and the late Grigorios Mellos. Our dearest brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Spiro was born in Ioannina (northern Epirus in Greece), moved to Perdika, a beautiful village and then to Athens where he first began his passion for  painting at a young age.

In 1972, he met our mom while she was vacationing in Greece from America. Shortly after, they got married & then came back to America together. They’ve been married for 53 years. His love for our mom and our family is unmeasurable. He was very proud of all of us. He loved his grandsons and granddaughter more than life itself and had a heart of gold. One of his favorite pastimes was to play baseball with the boys in the backyard, go to Cardinals games, teaching tavli, taking them to painting jobs, his jokes, no matter how many windows the boys broke while playing baseball they would be back out playing the next day, he was super good with his words and talks with his kids & grandkids and he would always see the light in the dark. His granddaughter meant the world to him, she remembers him saying “ale ale” when it was time to eat, playing bazooki, dancing, painting papou’s nails, pulling his finger and taught her how to snap.

His warmth, laughter and love for music filled our home everyday. He left an unforgettable mark on everyone he met with his smile, sense of humor and positivity. He will remain in our hearts forever and we will keep his legendary spirit alive.

Visitation at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church 1755 Des Peres Rd. 63131 on Tuesday, April 21 from 9:30 am. until Funeral Service time at 10:30 am. Interment at St. Matthew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church appreciated.
