Ohlendorf

In Loving Memory

Ohlendorf, Sue Ellen

October 16, 1944 - June 25, 2025

Sue Eagan Ohlendorf passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife for 54 beautiful years, a partnership built on deep love, laughter, and unwavering support.

Throughout her life, Sue poured her heart into her family and community. She was a tireless supporter of her children and grandchildren, never missing a game, swim practice, or school event. She especially loved coaching the children in volleyball and basketball, where her encouragement and enthusiasm shaped our children’s lives and other young lives both on and off the field.

An adventurous spirit, Sue found joy in travel. Whether it was a cross-country road trip or a spontaneous weekend getaway, she cherished every journey as an opportunity to explore new places.  She especially enjoyed our family vacations, trips to Europe, Australia, Brazil and the Bahamas.  Sue looked forward to spending our winters in Florida, as spending time on the beach was total enjoyment for her.  She was always ready to go on a cruise which included cruises from London, England to Barcelona, Spain even cruising the bottom of the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River.

She will be remembered for her kindness, energy, and the way she made everyone happy.  Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.  You might even have run into her at a casino or a 5-card poker tournament. Sue really enjoyed teaching people how to play Blackjack or any other casino card game.

Sue was the co-founder of the St. Louis County Parks Foundation.

She is survived by her loving husband Mark, beloved mother to Kevin (Pam) Ohlendorf, Amy (Darin) Eakle, Stacy (Todd) Hartzog, and Sarah.  Loving Grandmother to Ben (Alexis), Abby (Christopher) Eric, Andrew, Lindsey, Paige, Shelby, TJ and Kara.  Dear Great Grandmother to Reagan. She will be deeply missed by all.

Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, on Monday June 30, 4 – 7:00 PM. Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel on Tuesday July 1, 9:30 AM to St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church for 10:00 AM Mass. Interment Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The St. Louis County Parks Foundation.  STLCPF.ORG

  10. Our heartfelt sympathy to Mark and the entire Ohlendorf family. Sue’s presence never went unnoticed, as she brought love and joy to everyone who was fortunate to meet her. We shall cherish the fond memories of Sue at Crestwood Pool and all the St. Justin’s social events. It is natural for us to be sadden by her loss, however, we are thankful that God put her on this earth to touch our lives.

  14. Sue,
I address this to you. I have so many memories of you. Too many to mention. But, you made me laugh, you taught me that an all day fight to get a chile dog was worth it, you adored your father and Mark, you were so proud of your kids, grandkids and great grandchild. You were a card shark and a devoted friend to Carol Beloli through thick and thin. You cut through most of the BS and could tolerate my and Mark’s shenanigans for over 40 years. You had an amazing ability to balance atop a boat bumper and to throw parties in the back of a box truck upon Mark’s return from a business trip.
I will cherish the side eye glances you gave me when Mark was handing you a bill of goods for you to go along with the latest and greatest plan of his. So many times the four of us would just say, “We can do that.” And, we pretty much did.
I’ll always remember our trip up the Mississippi from St. Louis to Quincy, Illinois and the first lock we went through. Who would have ever known we were so close, but yet so far from making it to Pig Island, where Mark and I would have gone crazy. Truly, a trip for the books. Our trips to Florida, with Luau parties, dog tracks, beach and any crazy thing we set our minds to. Your stroll through the screen door at the Lake, late night boat rides, buying strangers shots of tequila, dressing to the nines to attend the VP Ball. Where does it all stop – I could go on forever. These things race through my mind this morning ahead of Mass. You were such a large part of my life and Jill’s.
Sue, you will NEVER be forgotten and always hold a special place in my heart.
    See you soon!
