O’Toole, James (Jim) Patrick

James (Jim) Patrick O’Toole, age 67, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home on July 3, 2025.

 

Jim was born on April 2, 1958, in St. Louis to the late William O’Toole and Norma O’Toole (née Mahanna). He attended grade school at Our Lady of Sorrows, graduated from Cleveland High School, and and attended Western Illinois University, where he also played collegiate soccer and volleyball. He graduated from UMSL with a degree in Business.

 

Jim dedicated his life to service, hard work, and community. He served as a Captain in the St. Louis City Sheriff’s Department, worked for the state of Missouri, and represented his district as a Missouri State Representative from 1993 to 2003. He was a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562 and the owner of ABC Pest Control.

 

He was also a member of Concordia Turners, where he competed in gymnastics, swimming and played volleyball. A talented coach and mentor, Jim led many volleyball teams to success, including three state championships. His commitment to coaching left a lasting impact on many.

 

During retirement, Jim loved being at home with his wife Ronda. Together they enjoyed spending time in the pool and doing projects around the house. He also cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. They loved to go out to restaurants and do a little traveling.

 

Above all, Jim was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ronda O’Toole (née Reifsteck); his children, Allie Pierce (née O’Toole), Timmy O’Toole, and Katie Fleming (née O’Toole) and sons-in-law, Austin Pierce and Josh Fleming. He was the proud grandfather of Eleanor and Oliver Pierce.

 

Jim is also survived by his siblings, Mark O’Toole, Kim Berdeaux (née O’Toole), and David Mahanna, and also his two beloved dogs, Marley and Jessie.

 

Jim will be remembered for his sense of humor, hard work and deep love for his family.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) to support research and patient support services.

Services; A memorial visitation will be held at Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry) on Thur. 7/10 from 4-8PM, with a funeral service on Fri. 7/11 at Noon. Services will conclude at funeral home

  1. I am heartbroken to hear of Jim’s passing. My deepest sympathies go out to the family. I grew up knowing the family and back in the day, Jim’s nick name was (Jim Bowie) going back to the 1960’s.
