Mike was a gentle bear of a man. He was truly one of the nicest and most caring people I’ve ever known. He was always raising money for those in need. I feel privileged to have known him and honored to have called him my friend. May he rest in eternal peace!
Mike was a friend who was a great supporter of our slu athletic teams he was one of the best people who helped our dept at slu daily
Mike was such a kind and caring person, always bringing warmth and compassion to those around him. His generosity and gentle spirit touched the lives of many. He made the world a better place. Please know that my thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
Mike had such a kind and loving nature. Even though he had a big, tough job, it was his deep care for his family, friends, and the people he served that really stood out. It was a pleasure working with him, and he will be dearly missed. On behalf of the AccuCare team, we’re sending our heartfelt love and condolences to those closest to him.💙
Mike was a big teddy bear. Always taking care of everyone. St Louis City SC games won’t be the same without knowing Mike is keeping us all safe. I so enjoyed always seeing him watching over the field, the fans, players and their families.
So sad to hear this, Mike was truly beloved in the CITY family. Such an incredible human and advocate for those in need. You’ll be sorely missed and never forgotten Mike. Thank you for supporting me when I had an accident at CITYPARK, your sincere concern for my well being and my families needs will never be forgotten. Love you Mike RIP
So sad. He was a good man and will be missed by many
We grew up in a different Era. Black’s and Whites didn’t always get along very well but Mike never once looked at you as black or white
He saw the person and was always fair. You’ll be missed my brother!
I played baseball at Jennings with Mike. My fondest memory was him hitting a mammoth home run against Berkeley at Koenemen Park .
Mike was always pleasant and actually a funny guy!
RIP Jennings Warrior
Great teammate at Jennings High and a good dude! Will alway remember the bomb he hit against Berkeley when we played jv baseball together.
I grew very close to this gentle giant as a part of the Operations family at CITYPARK and there will always be a huge, teddy-bear sized hole moving forward. Mike had a heart of gold, and will be sorely, sorely missed.
I had the privilege of being one of Mike’s coaches in high school. He was the kind of young man that was a joy to be around , always smiling and positively interacting with everyone around him. As an adult he would come back and visit with me from time to time and it was good to see that he was that same good soul in his professional and personal life. May God be with the family.
Mike Otten was my son-in-law. I knew him as a man of integrity, and love without measure. Many talk about friends and family always being there for them. He lived that life!
I feel my life has been enriched by knowing this man, up close and personal, as I do. When a man takes your daughter’s hand, you make it your business to know everything you can about his nature and love for your daughter. He was lacking, in no regard.
Lastly, it is on my heart to tell all those of a Christian background, he is well placed with our Lord. He was a Christian. God Bless his memory.
We are truly blessed even for a short time
I was extremely blessed to have Mike as a patient. During the few hours I was taking care of him in the Er mike and I chatted up a storm about so many things. He shared all the wisdom with me he could in the short time we had together. He was truly one of the kindest and easiest to talk to patients I’ve ever had. Through all the bad news he still kept a smile on his face. I could have spent hours talking to him that day. He will forever be in my heart as one of the great ones. Sending prayers to his family
Mike was a good guy and an absolute delight to work with. Such a sense of humor and always smiling. He will be missed.
Mike Otten – truly, what a guy.
Mike made everyone feel safe and comfortable. He had a real soft spot for dogs. He spoke openly and passionately about mental health, working to normalize oftentimes tough conversations. He was an obvious family man. He will be so missed.
Sending comfort and extra care to Mike’s loved ones. May his memory be a blessing.
I am so sad to hear this. What a great guy! I will miss his smiling (always) face at The StlCity games. He kept everyone in line with humor and gentle strength 💪. RIP 🙏
Fellow CMPA #115 member with Mike. Both municipal cops so we always were grouped. He never forgot our time and was always there regardless how much time passed. Keep an eye out for The Peacemakers. Love ya brother.
May peace be with your family.
Woot
Mike was an amazing man. My heart breaks for his family and his wife Michelle. May he rest in peace
I knew Mike for only a short time. As a peer he was always willing to take a call, answer a question or give advice. He was someone I could count on. He will be missed.
Rest in Peace Brother.
On behalf of Austin FC, we offer our condolences to the Ottens, Richters, Hagens, and their extended family and friends. We are greatly saddened by the news of Mike’s passing.
Mike was a great colleague, and his absence will be felt across the Major League Soccer’s Safety and Security teams, at large. We are thankful for his contributions, his teamwork, and his impact (known and unknown) in keeping the public safe throughout his many years of service.
Wishing the family peace, pride, and great memories.
There really are no words…So very sorry for your loss
I was so sad to hear this. Mike was a nice man and great neighbor.
Sending comfort to Mike’s wife Michelle and his loved ones.
I was very sad to hear of Mike’s passing. My deepest condolences to the family. I worked with Mike at CITY SC and it was such a joy to work with him. His kindness and willingness to help made doing my job easier. May God provide all his family members strength and peace during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Mike. You will be missed.
I’m heartbroken! Mike was a kind, caring man who always has a smile on his face. When I reached out to him about an issue with my son, he dropped everything to talk with me and provide support.
RIP, Mike
Mike was a friendly compassionate man who had a way of making everyone feel comfortable. There was no reason for Mike to take in interest in us just because were friends of SLU, but he did both on and off that campus.
We would all do well to be a little more like Mike.
Mike was such a kind person & calming presence during my time at CITY SC.
My thoughts & prayers to all his loved ones.
A great man. Made a big impact on our family as we had 2 daughters attend SLU. Always went out of his way to help. God bless.
Knowing Mike for over 20 years as our kids went to school together. I can’t ever recall a time where anybody had anything bad to say about Mike. He always treated everybody with care. Seeing him at games was one thing I always looked forward to. He will be missed.
