Asleep in Jesus, July 29, 2024
Jean Ruth Parker was born on October 13, 1930, and lived in St. Louis all her life. She attended Shenandoah Grade School and Roosevelt High School. During high school, she met the love of her life, George Parker. They dated for 3 years and eventually married on September 9, 1950.
During her life, Jean worked at Anheuser Busch and Washington University, among other jobs. However, her most influential job was being a wife and mother. She was a strong, loving, and independent woman who lived out her faith, serving as a model for her children, friends, and all who were welcomed into her home. To their marriage they added 4 children: Judy (Glenn) Gerber, Robyn Parker, Claudia Parker, and Jim (Meri) Parker. Their grandchildren number 11: Robyn (Ben) Stroschein, Libby Gerber, Emily (Ben) Wohlschlaeger, Joshua (Jackie) Garlich, Laura Garlich, Jamie (Todd) Fitzpatrick, Stephanie (Kirk) Youngwith, Tom Eggers, Peter (Courtney) Eggers, Grant (Madison) Parker, and Allie Parker. They also had 12 great grandchildren.
Jean and George were happily married for 70 years, remaining best friends and confidantes until his passing in 2021. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jean served her family and her Lord faithfully throughout her life. She has received her reward and is now face to face with her Savior.

I remember Mrs. Parker as a great
“Den Mother” of our Cub Scouts. In grade school at Green Park Lutheran. I always enjoyed what she had for us to do in our meetings and I enjoyed playing in Jim’s backyard next to the car dealership.. 🙂
