Rawlngs-Jansen

In Loving Memory

Rawlings-Jansen, Estella Roxanne

Rawlings-Jansen, Estella Roxanne (“Roxi”) was born January 6, 1983, and entered rest on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the age of 41. Roxi was the beloved daughter of David and Charlene (nee Koelling) Jansen. She was the loving mother of Waylon Crandall and sister of Teresa, John, Cheyenne, and Ryan, who preceded her in death. She leaves behind many beloved family and friends.

A talented artist, Roxanne graduated from Fontbonne University with two master’s degrees in fine arts. She was known for her creativity across mediums, most notably for her works of dragons, horses, fairies, and hummingbirds, as well as figure drawings, and sculptures.

Roxi had a love for dragons, “My Little Pony,” cats (notably fat ones and “caticorns”), and the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, Pink Floyd and rock and roll, and helping her dad work on cars (he affectionately referred to her as his “son”). But most of all, she loved her son, Waylon, who she fought hard to live for. In the words of Pink Floyd, “All you touch and all you see, is all your life will ever be,” and thanks to Roxi, many days were brighter, richer, and colored with love.

SERVICES: A VISITATION will be held at the Kutis South County funeral home located at 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Saturday, November 2, from noon until the time of the MEMORIAL SERVICE at 2 p.m. Donations in her honor may be made to Feed My People, or the American Liver Association.

  1. To MY daughter Estella Roxanne, I love you, apart of me died when you did, along with your brother Ryan Bench. I can’t process you’re gone. I am so blessed we had each other once again. I’m going to miss our 2 hour talks, and FaceTime with you and Waylon. I love you forever, mom.

Thanks for the cherished memories, the funny Roxi quotes, and the embracing of your quirky personality! We are better for it.
As true families do, we met our challenges and came out stronger for it.
We will assure Waylon is told the stories of your life and the unicorn sprinkles you left in your wake.
Sweet dreams our precious daughter. Rest easy, we will take it from here.
    Love,
Ma and Pa aka. Mom and Dad

  3. Roxi.

Dear “Roxannelshka,” I’ll miss you — and all of our insane times together, like eating in the food court in the St. Louis Galleria in our pajamas and underwear as teenagers in the middle of the day(!), our Florida trip, digging Grandma Sarah’s garden (you threw the shovel at me!), and all the late night chats in between. We could “close down” a holiday, routinely staying up ‘til 3 a.m. after Christmas. Even the times we lived together, we often found ourselves chatting, crying, or hysterically laughing. There is so much life we covered — and there was so much of your life I wish could have been different. But I’m grateful to have had the memories we found after we found each other.

You were my favorite cousin. We learned a lot about who we were together through the years. We lived — and we shared so many stories, a number of which we had probably both forgotten. But I’ll always remember you for your strength — and for being the best Mom you could be to Waylon, your little Mac & Cheese-loving tiny Picasso, who you nicknamed “Stink,” or “Lord Stinkleton” (and who I called “Way-Way” or “Kitty Way-Way” … and so many other names). We’d crack up about his little eye rolls and frustrations with our antics!

I also won’t forget that you were my artistic “rival.” We ultimately bonded through our art and varying styles and brought a lot of color and love to our family together. Your works are timeless and technically great. You’re represented everywhere — in every space at home.

I remember being mad at you when you came into our lives because you were older than me and a more gifted artist. But I was in awe as I walked through your first art show (and admittedly bummed I couldn’t afford anything!) . What I wanted to learn, you happily taught. I was always less concerned with the “technical” skill, but your encouragement drove me to improve — just a little!

I’ll keep the art alive in our family and I’ll teach or encourage the little artists here, while you paint the heavens. ‘Til we meet again…

    Love always,

    “Bobishka,” a.k.a “Bobtangela”

  4. Roxi, your smile was infectious…. Your attitude was always positive… You were a friend to a stranger, and a confidant to a friend…

I will cherish the memories working with you, laughing with you, and talking about music.
No one had a better attitude than you…

    Rest in peace dear Roxi…

  6. Fly high Roxanne! You were one female that could change a tire and snatch a snake better than the boys! ♥️ I know you’ll be watching over your son like an eagle in the sky!

  7. Dear Roxi,
It was just a few months ago, we sat together, laughing, crying, and then laughing at our crying!

I can’t believe this! This world is a bit more dim, since losing your light. My deepest condolences to your family and most of all, Waylon.

    With all respect,
    Kristine

  8. Roxanne,
I’m so sorry this happened to you your life was way too short. We will miss your laugh, your smile and you just being you. You probably didn’t realize how strong we all thought you were. It’s not everyday a young person can rise above the bad times much less make it to college with 2 dregrees. You were a wonderful mother! Don’t worry Charlene and Bobby will make sure Waylon always knows how much you loved him and what a strong woman you really were.
