Lois was born May 25, 1928, to Fred and Mabel (nee Kistenmacher) Deven, and was called to heaven on October 12, 2018. She was sister to the late Mae Ellen Tichacek. Lois was married to Herman J. Reinert, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1985. They had four children: Jeanne (Dan, deceased) Deemie, Jacqlyn (Adam, deceased) Long, Jill Ploesser, and Janis (Brent) Klages, grandchildren Derek (Amanda Fleming) Deemie, Shannan (Ron) Hall, Ryan (Audrey) Ploesser, Zachary Ploesser, AJ Klages, Christopher Klages, Deven Klages, and great-grandchildren Damon Deemie, Lorelai Ploesser, and Cora Ploesser. Mom graduated from Roosevelt High School and was employed at Sears. After she married, she became a stay at home Mom raising her four daughters who all attended St. Matthias grade school. As a Mom with two children under 3, she organized a neighborhood protest with other moms to block cement trucks using their street to build a nearby subdivision. With their protests, the trucks began using a different route. She was official scorekeeper for her children’s Khoury league softball teams. And, of course, she was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. She started the “13 run jackpot” that everyone wanted to participate in: when the Cardinals got 13 runs in a game, someone won the jackpot, if the Cardinals didn’t get 13 runs, the jackpot rolled over to the next game. When Lois’s oldest daughter started high school at Notre Dame High School in Lemay, she felt she needed to get a job to pay for the tuition. She got that job at St. Anthony’s Hospital, starting at the Grand and Chippewa location then moving to its present location in South County. Lois stayed at St. Anthony’s until she retired at age 70. After retirement, she and her friends from St. Anthony’s started meeting for lunch every first Friday at a different restaurant each month. That’s how the First Friday Lunch Bunch got started 20 years ago. Lois will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease about 10 years ago. It began to take over her life recently, robbing her of her ability to walk and reducing her voice to a whisper.
