Alex Shipp Obituary picture

In Loving Memory

Shipp, Alexander Daniel

Alexander Daniel Shipp,  Asleep in Jesus on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Beloved husband of Jessica Shipp (nee Turek). Dearest father of Carly and Miles Shipp. Loving son of Dan and Deborah Shipp and son-in-law of Tony and Theresa Turek. Dear brother of Marshall Taylor, brother-in-law of Tony and Carrie Turek (nee Voss), uncle to Emma, Audrey, Owen, and Rue, cousin and friend to many.

Alex was a provider and protector. He was the guy that went in the burning house to save his neighbor; the guy you could count on to show up with the umbrella helping you out of your car in the rain; the Don Juan who would glow as he talked about the first time he met Jess, his soulmate, in Madrid; the Dad that helped you bait a hook and make sure you were a successful fisherman; the Dad that would tread water to take the perfect picture of you jumping from the boat; the Dad that ordered all the best apps after picking you up from a mixer; the capital H Hoosier rooting on his team; the groupie with the best tickets at every concert; the meticulous keeper of family recipes; the guy who would create a feast on the smoker; the brilliant mind who counted everyone’s syllables as they spoke, always rearranging it into 15; the coach that drank from your soccer cup trophy; the lake bum who believed in the abolishment of sleeves on the weekend; the surfer in Hawaii, beach waves flowing in the break; the guy who hired all of his friends; the guy who built the hen house for Jess’ “girls”; the attentive husband that would rub your feet until you fell asleep. His humor and love touched all who knew him. He was hardwired into Jess and Jess into him. His essence radiates from Carly and Miles. They will always ‘remember there is nothing worth sharing than the love that let us share our name (Avett Brothers).

  2. What a beautiful tribute Jessica! My heart breaks for you, Carly, and Miles. You shouldn’t have to endure this grief and hardship. Alex was taken way too soon, but the love he gave to his family and friends is evident by the lovely words everybody had to say about him. I know it doesn’t alleviate any of your pain, but he continues to watch over you, Carly, and Miles. Conjure an image of him in your mind’s eye, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and listen for his whispers of love to you. He’ll be speaking to you in the silence of your heart. Gods bless you all and I love you sweet cousin ❤️🙏

  5. A true ‘provider and protector’ indeed. I’ll never forget a big Turek family dinner at Cusanelli’s when Alex stepped in without hesitation to help a family member who was choking. As if that weren’t enough, he then surprised us all by quietly paying the tab for the entire family. His kindness and generosity will forever inspire me!

  8. Worked with and sat next to Alex for a few years at Wells. The words of this remembrance ring true. When I was let go from the company in 2021, he was one of the first to reach out and offer me a job and a way back in the door. Truly a great guy that loved talking with me about Indiana, Bonne Terre, Oakville, and his family.

  13. To all the Shipp family, Memories of Alex always will bring a smile to my face. His grandmother June and I would push him in his stroller to see the cows. He was always so loving with a hug when he would see me. When I met Jess it was obvious that they would make a wonderful couple. I am so thankful he got to be a father too Carly and Miles. He was so proud of his family. And to my special friends Debbie and Dan – I pray that God will wrap His arms around you and give your hearts peace. Love to you all.

  22. Dear Teri, Tony,
    Jessica, Carly and Miles~

The outpouring of love and conversation last evening was overwhelming and heartfelt.

Jessica, if you wrote this, you covered Alex with the same love and protection he covered you all with. To read you were both wired together was beautifully expressed.

I hurt so much for all of you, but please listen to that quiet voice of the Holy Spirit in your mind. Alex’s spirit will still live in your Mind, Body and Soul.

I know because I lost my husband at 60.

He gave you all his very best, never stop sharing that love of his. He sounds like he lived life for others, and especially his family. May you find HIS comfort and support, in your kids, and the quiet of your mind.

Live for him, as he did for everyone 🩷🩷😇🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Your wiring still exists.

  24. I was so shocked and saddened to hear this news. While our paths crossed for only one volleyball season, Alex was one the parents that left a huge impact on me. He was such a fun dad, and your whole family was so loving, it was very cool to see. He always had such kind words and encouragement for Olive. Jess, Carly, and Miles, I’m sending you all the love.

  28. I worked with Alex at Wells Fargo, sat right next to him and walked by him every day we were in office. We shared laughs and stories about our families, work, life! He spoke of you all all the time, his dream of moving out to the country and getting more chickens. He was the first one to congratulate me on the birth of my son when I returned to work, going on about how much fun I was about to have raising a family. I miss walking by his office every day. He will be missed here by all for his warmth and friendship and kindness. And I will miss the little moments we shared here at work, in-between going home to our families, which I know was the most important thing to him.
