Spiros, Stephen James

October 6, 1952 - March 14, 2025

He worked for over 40 years at Superior Equipment Company, drove for Central States Trailways, after which he worked for FedEx and finally, served BALB LLC as a driver. Steve was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, known for his heart for the Lord, service, his quick wit, and loyalty to his wife, family and church.

Steve loved playing hockey and managed Hockey North America (HNA) as an integral member. He also actively enjoyed other sports including tennis, having played for most of his life and later in the Senior Olympics and more recently, pickleball.

He is survived by his son, Jason, grandchildren, Elijah and Landon, who affectionately knew him as “Pappous” and siblings Jim Spiros and Matt Spiros. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Spiros, brother, Greg Spiros and nephew, Shawn Spiros.

  1. I am so sorry for Steve’s family, but happy for him that he is with the Lord now. I knew Steve at Rock Hill Baptist in Brentwood. I now live in Alabama, but I talked to him after Pam’s passing and we got reacquainted. Just a great guy that I wish I could have known better.

  2. I am friend and driver colleague of Steve’s’ from BEST transportation for 15 fun years of bowl games, band trips , Purina farms, Veterans Day, dinners with he and Pam and monthly conversations. What an awesome person for family and friends and colleagues. He truly lived the Lords Golden Rule! I already miss him immensely and my family all loved him!.

  3. Stephen Spiros was a gift in so many ways. He made sacrifices for many people who will likely
never know, and even made sacrifices for me and my family during some hard times. He was humble, kind, loving, intentional with his time, generous, and so many other things. I pray for his family and for peace to them. I pray they find confidence knowing that God can redeem lost time in ways not imagined…

  4. Steve was such a great guy. He and I “shared” a bus route at Rock Hill Baptist, I was the bus driver and Steve was the disciplinarian and friend for all those small children. We and several others were trustee for the building. I still have fond memories of some of our work nights in the building and Steve would tackle about any job that needed done. All this was many years ago, I remember Jason being carried around in a pumpkin seat. Great for the assurance that Steve is with the Lord AND with Pam. May God bless this entire family and grant them strength during this time of sorrow.

  5. I met him when we were single. Steve and Pam were in our wedding in March of 1975. Then my wife and I were in their wedding a couple of months later. As couples (and as believers in Jesus Christ) we were best friends over the past 50 years. Steve was a “people” person and had a heart of gold. Steve and I played basketball, softball, volleyball, and table hockey together. I couldn’t beat him at anything. Hockey was his earthly love until the very end. He is now in the presence of his two favorite people, Jesus and Pam. I look forward to seeing him and Pam again when our time comes.

  6. Holy smokes, I just heard this tonight! I played hockey with Steve for years and was the guy who put the AED on him on November 14th, 2011, and ended up reviving him! Annually I called Steve on the anniversary to catch up with him. I also connected him to Beth at BALB, so was glad to hear he was able to help her after she lost her husband about the time we lost Pam! I am so sorry to have missed the service, and wish the family my thoughts and prayers!!

  7. My condolences to his family. Steve was an admin of the HNA league I had just joined. I only had the pleasure of knowing him for a few months but his passion for hockey, kindness, and eagerness to share his wealth of knowledge of the game will not be forgotten. It was a pleasure to know him while I did and he seemed like the type of man who lived life to the fullest. Rest easy.
