I called my friend of 47 years the night before he died as I did the proceeding night. Last night I thought about calling him again out of habit, and then reality set in and I realized that was not possible. Mondays our lunch group would eat at Arby’s at 11:45 because Vernon wanted to miss the noon rush. Tuesday it was the same at Penn Station, Wednesday at Fazoli’s. Thursday we were all at the pantry, and Friday as of late KFC. This had been going at for years, and to see him light when talking about his family and what all of them were doing was a joy to hear.
It is said the most important two days in your life is the day you are born and the day you pass, but really it is the dash in the middle. What did you do with the dash. Vernon’s line was bold and extremely long for all the lives he touched and what he meant to our community.
Amen, Vern was a humble servant.
My dad Darold Cameron had the privilege to have Vernon Sullivan as his boss in the Fox c-6 maintenance department Vernon Sullivan will be missed Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church will be praying for the family.
You never know when the last of anything will be. The last time I saw Vern was at lunch a few weeks ago. In recent years, Vern and I enjoyed many conversations over lunch. The conversation was always good. Vern’s great sense of humor always added flavor to the sandwiches we ate. I will remember how Vern lived. Vernon Sullivan made an impact as a contributing force for the betterment of the City of Arnold and Fox C-6 School District. In his community service and his military service, Vern always went the extra mile. For his many achievements, I celebrate the life Vern lived.
Vernon will be greatly missed. I spoke to him as often as I could, which wasn’t enough. I always enjoyed the conversations with him and Glenda. He always told me I was welcome in his home, if I was able to make it back home for a visit. I just wish I had been able to visit more. I will miss you Uncle Vernon.
We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our friend, Vern, from our time together at Rock Church. We enjoyed getting to know Vern and Glenda. Vern selflessly volunteered his time and talents for the betterment of the Arnold community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob and Marcia Denison
