James was born July 30, 1941, in Brentwood, Missouri. He was the son of Mason Summers and Voilet Ruth (Keller) Summers. He married Rosemary Mattison December 9, 1960, and had two daughters Debra and Lisa. Later in life James married Rose Cullom on July 27, 1996. James became a printer at the age of 19. He retired his printing career with Color Art at the age of 60. He also worked off and on for years at Frank Blair Gas Station in Brentwood.
James cherished his time with his daughters such as; taking them to the Father-Daughter Dances, teaching them how to drive in the Walgreens parking lot, and playing ball in the back yard. He looked forward to going to family reunions to play horseshoes or football and swimming. James enjoyed cars, going to car shows, and always kept his cars immaculate. He relished being outside whether it was sitting, working in the yard, or going for a walk. James and Baker (his lifelong friend) liked to workout at the health club and then go to breakfast. He reveled in sharing his blessings with his family, and his generosity will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his children Debra (Jim) Brown of Boonville, Missouri, and Lisa (Dennis) Schilb of Prairie Home, Missouri. Two grandchildren Tara (Quinten Wilson) Cummings and Thomas (Amy) Baldwin. Five great grandchildren Brielle Rentel, Brooks Rentel, Amelia Baldwin, Ethan Baldwin, and Braelynn Wilson.
He was preceded in death by both parents, brothers; Bobby Summers, Gene Summers, Donald Summers, and Kenneth Summers, and his wife Rose Cullom.
So sorry for your loss. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead.
We knew Jim from Brentwood, always a smile on his face and so very kind to everyone. A true gentleman. Bob and Joanne Shelton
We met Jim when we moved into our home, across the street from him, in 2003. He was a quiet and kind man. He was gentle with our young children and we would talk to him often about our neighborhood, the weather and his family whom he loved. Before he had to move away he walked outside often. We will miss Jim. Bless your families. Bill & Chris Fischer
It saddens me to hear of Jim’s passing. I have so many fond memories of him. My sincere condolences to your family. You will be in my thoughts and my prayers.
