In Loving Memory

Tesoro, Rita

Rita Tesoro  August 2, 1937 – February 20, 2023

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Tesoro and her sisters Mary Maddalena Dussani, Isabella Greco, and brother Francesco Prestia.

She was a loving and dedicated mother to her three children Sal (Deb)Tesoro, Bruno (Chris)Tesoro, Rita (Mike) Scott. She was a loving Nonna to Katie, Sarah, Joe, Marisa, Bruno, Rachel, Emily, Michelle, and Michael. She adored her great grandchildren Charlotte, Genevieve, and Otto. She was a dear aunt, great aunt, and friend to many.

Rita was born in Calabria, Italy and arrived in America in 1959. She was a homemaker, seamstress, an amazing cook and baker, a cancer survivor, our matriarch. She loved her Italian heritage. She instilled strong Italian family values and tradition.

She was funny, quick to give you the evil eye, quite handy with a wooden spoon, and always made sure you were fed.

She loved her plants, sitting in the sun, listening to music and most of all just being around her family. She will be dearly missed and with God’s will we will move forward day by day.

Services: Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd on Saturday, February 25, 10:15 a.m. to St James The Greater Catholic Church for 11 a.m. Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Visitation, Friday 5-9 p.m.

  1. The minute I met Rita after my son introduced us, she became ‘Nonna” to me. I loved her. She was so loving to her family and passed those traits to her children and grandchildren. Rita was grateful for all that she had and all whom she loved, but especially to God for her own ability to work hard for all of it. She was a wonderful cook but bashful if you complimented her. I have to say her red pasta sauce was scrumptious. Rest in peace dear Rita, I believe we will meet again, I’m certainly going to pray for it.

  7. Dear Bruno, Chris, Marisa, Bruno Joseph, Sal, Rita, and Family,

My heart is deeply saddened by the loss of your Mother, my Friend.

Floyd and I would often reminisce on the wonderful times spent together with Joe, Rita, Pino and Maddalena over wonderful dinners, wine, music performed by Pino, and stimulating conversations. Most especially, our mutual understanding of the Importance of Family!

I will greatly miss your mother, however, know that she is forever within my and all of our hearts.

    Lovingly,

    Lucy (mom)

My condolences and sympathies goes out to your family. Your mother and nonna will be greatly missed.

I still have fond memories of going to your house watching movies (usually westerns), and your mother always had an array of delicious Italian treats ready for the rowdy kids.

Sending you love and strength in this difficult time.
