Art Tuhro Picture

In Loving Memory

Tuhro, Arthur Richard “Art”

March 27, 1952 - February 16, 2024

Arthur Richard Tuhro, known to everyone as “Art,” passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 71. Art was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 27, 1952, and was the son of the late Albert and Rose Tuhro. Art was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, close friend to many, and “funcle” (like an uncle, only more fun).

Art was a loving husband to Alice Tuhro, his beloved wife of 49 years, a devoted father to his children, Alicia, Brian, Arick, and Shelly, and an affectionate grandfather to Ethan, Ashley, Ella, Savannah, Jack, and AJ. Art will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and the love he poured into his family is evident in the grief of those he has left behind.

Art had many pastimes, with one of his favorite activities being golf. He would spend hours on the course showing off his skills, including the hole-in-one he nailed recently in Forest Park with his close friends Bob, Tom, and George. Aside from that, Art often enjoyed birdwatching from his porch, taking pictures of his family when they least expected it, and telling the cheesiest jokes to share in the laughter of others. His passion for pancakes was unmatched, but nothing made him happier than simply sharing a meal with those he cherished. Art will be remembered for his love of life, his kindness, his humor, his community service, and his devotion to his family. He will be painfully missed by his friends and family.

A celebration of Art’s life will be held at the Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63129, on Monday, February 19, 2024. Visitation will be from 11:00 -1:00 p.m., and the service will begin at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the de Greeff Hospice House, which provided compassionate care and comfort to Art and his loved ones during his final days.

  1. I remember when Alice and Art got married. I was 9 years old and got to go on a plane for the first time with my mom to the wedding. First time a saw art he was in grandma Wolff’s above ground pool with his groomsmen and I thought he was just the coolest funnest guy I had met in my whole 9 years of life. Nothing that has happened in the last almost 50 years has changed my mind on that. If my mom and dad were still here they would be heartbroken but since they went ahead of him they are probably already having a drink in a golf course somewhere. I will miss his corny dad jokes of the day on Facebook. I absolutely know the pain Arick and Alicia are going through and I send them my love. I cannot know the depths of Alice’s pain thankfully but know how much my mom hurt after losing dad after 45 years together. While I can’t be there in person to say goodbye know that you are all in my heart. I love y’all and will miss my funcle Art♥️♥️

  3. Art and his family were our neighbors in Kansas City in the late 80’s. He was godfather to our daughter Julianna and mentor to our son Thomas. We remember him for his humor and his kindness. I personally remember his insight which came from the heart and head. He was the consummate family man and adored his children and grandchildren. He was also a devoted, loving husband . He will be missed.

  6. Art was a kind, easy-going man with a beautiful soul. The Mortons in NC send love to your entire family. Prayers of comfort are also shared. When the time is right, we’d like to get together and raise a glass to Art and a life well lived. I will always remember his humor and how he was always an involved dad and grandfather. He and Alice never missed those important events. It was obvious he cherished his bride of 49 years and was so very proud of his children and grandchildren. We feel honored to have known Art and to have enjoyed several joyous occasions with he and his family. Our hearts are grateful and broken.💔

  8. Mr. Tuhro, you will be missed. My family’s relationship started when he generously volunteered to coach my soccer team 40ish year ago when no one else stepped up despite having no children on the team. He always said we were a tough team but rarely scored because we always kicked the ball at the goalie…we have laughed about that over the years:). As he was in life he remained patient, kind and encouraging. So many memorable times with my family….weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, Mizzou bus trip, winery trip, celebrations, etc. You will always be remembered, loved and missed. Alice, Alicia, Arick, please let us know if you need anything!

  9. Dearest Uncle Art, I will miss the happy greetings and big hugs everytime I see you! You were definitely the best “funcle” I could have asked for. You had the best laugh along with your silly jokes.
You would always tell me I was your favorite niece, however I wouldn’t doubt that you told your other nieces the same, but I always loved to hear that.
I wish I could hug you just one more time and see that great big smile you always wore. You will forever be in my heart my favorite uncle.
    With Love,
    Your niece, Pam

  11. There no words that can describe how heartbroken we are to have lost such a long time dear friend of over 45 years. He was a genuine kind and loving person with a big heart. We spent many, many years together traveling , taking mini trips, numerous wine weekends, golf weekends and hundreds of times just being together talking and laughing. These times will be gravely missed, but always remembered. You will be terribly missed, but never forgotten. Love you Art. Bob and Linda❤️
