Vogt

In Loving Memory

Vogt, Paul Ross

September 24, 1933 - November 2, 2024

Our father, Paul Ross Vogt, passed away peacefully on All Souls’ Day, November 2, 2024, at 5:32 PM, surrounded by family. Born on September 24, 1933, in East St. Louis, Illinois, he had recently celebrated his 91st birthday. He took his last breaths with his Children gathered and listening on the phone to his brother Jim and sister Carol, in Chesterfield, Missouri.  Paul’s visitation will be held on Saturday, November 9, at Holy Redeemer Church in Webster Groves, MO, 9:00 a.m. until funeral mass at 10:00 am.

Holy Redeemer Parish was an important part of his life — he attended grade school there and remained a devoted parishioner and lector for most of his entire life. His Catholic faith was central to who he was, guiding his life and giving him strength to raise such a large family.

On December 26, 1955, Paul married Donna Monson at St. Agnes Church in St. Louis, beginning a life together filled with family. Together, they raised ten children: Joe, Dan, Jeanne, Matt, Linda, Julie, John, Katie, Ellen, and Ann Marie. Paul was also blessed with 35 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Paul spent nearly two months in hospice care, where we ensured he was treated with compassion and dignity. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Paul was a great man — a devoted Catholic, a loving husband, and an incredible father. We are so lucky to have had him in our lives.

Donna Louis (Monson) Vogt, his wife of 59 years, passed away on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2014. After nearly a decade apart, we take comfort in knowing that Paul and Donna are reunited once again, together in God’s embrace.

  1. We both come from the large Catholic families and had the pleasure to meet your Father several times over the years when he would visit Ellen and then meet several of you at Ellen and Dan’s wedding. We were impressed with your Dad’s wit and love of each of you. May everyone find peace in your memories of your beloved Dad. Tim and Mary Jo Egan

  2. My fondest memories of your dad was during the Memorial Day and Labor Day CFM group’s family picnics’ softball games. He always had a comment or two (or three or four) about his children’s play…even though they were about the best on the field!
My heartfelt condolences to your entire family.

  3. Vogt family, so very sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. I knew your parents (and all of you, once upon a time) through my parents, Tom & Ag. Your dad loved that I became a CPA, and he was so much fun to visit with when I’d bring my dad to their Mercy HS lunch group. Prayers for you all at this time. We are close to the anniversaries of my parents’ deaths as well, so I’ll remember them all together.

  4. To the Vogt family, especially John: if you are anything like your parents, particularly your father (being a male) they did an exceptional job raising you! Prayers.

  5. Paul and I had a lot of fun way back in 1950. We danced every Sunday night at Holy Redeemer Squires and Junior League Teen-town, in the old building in Old Orchard. How Paul liked to “Polka” and still did a few years ago.! At that time he was a resident here at Our Lady Of Life Apartments. At our
party/dances we danced again … a bit slower … but with as much joy as back in 1950! Paul and I didn’t go on any picnics while he was living here those few years but we did go to Stages with a group from OLOL and enjoyed several plays.
I recall Paul was in a play when he was in high school. Sadly the details have flown from my memory. It was a nice summer evening several years ago when he joined my four daughters and I for several drinks out side in our courtyard. .. a very good time was had by all !! A couple of our daughters went to school together at Ursuline Academy, so we did see each other a few times at school functions. I feel blessed that I was able to visit Paul about a month ago, before he left the CRSS
campus. Paul will be missed and never forgotten.
Kathy, Karen, Karol, Kim and I are sending you our love, and our thoughts, our prayers and our sympathies.

Paul and Donna shared a wonderful life together with their children, grandchildren, great grandkids too. Your Mom & Dad will always be missed by .. not only the family .. but by all who knew them. Thank you for your note and good wishes. I wish the same for you and all of Paul’s family.
