Throughout his life, he had many treasured moments with cherished friends and family.  He spent many days hunting at the Erflings, fishing with Lana where he earned the nickname “Dippnet”, and riding his motorcycles with his many friends.

  1. So sorry for your loss. Last time I saw him was MotorAmerica at Barber’s in Birmingham Alabama. We had a moment to pray together and take a picture. I know he is with God….

  2. Joe will be sorely missed by so many. Joe was a magnet for people because of his beautiful ability to openly talk to anyone and to help everyone. No one had a better work ethic and pride in their work than Joe. He loved what he did and always a willingness to educate his clients. More importantly he LOVED his family. We looked forward to our visits just to hear about his amazing girls and his devoted wife, as well as hear about his motorcycle trips, family trips, his girls jobs, college and hunting. There is no one like him. What a treasure we have lost.

  3. My brother Joe made a mark in his life. He took the high road when diagnosed with cancer. He would even remark about the loving care he was given at chemo treatments. His passion for hunting, fishing and bike riding never dwindled. I loved his live post about nature. He was already in Heaven on Earth.

  5. Lana and the girls,
This was way too soon. Joe and I spoke many times after Saturday night church, he was such a big comfort to me when my husband died recently, his positive attitude kept us both going. He fought as long as he could, but we both knew God decides when it’s time to go. Rest in peace Joe.

  6. Lana, Megan and Hannah,
I worked with Joe on various jobs for over 25 years. He was a brilliant professional and always so happy to talk about his girls.
    My sincere condolences.

  7. There are no words to express our sadness. Joe was like family to us. First as an employee at Pool King when he was just a teenager, throughout his Ranken years, then our “go to guy” for company and personal HVAC maintenance. Good thing Bermuda didn’t bill us by the hour for our service calls because they were always a visit from a treasured friend. Those calls lasted as long as we could stretch the time — exchanging news about our families and many other topics. The visits always ended with hugs and expressions of deep affections. After his retirement from Bermuda, we appreciated his texts and video posts. His smiles and words from the Memorial Day Weekend trip to motocross races will linger in our memory of him. Bless him for giving us that gift. We had been praying for Joe every night since he texted about his cancer recurrence and will continue to keep Lana, Megan and Hannah in our prayers.

  9. Lana, Megan, and Hannah,
We cannot begin to tell you how sorry we are for your loss of Joe. Working with him professionally for over 30 years on work, service referrals and personal projects, no one was better at his craft. As his family, we certainly don’t need to tell you how much you were adored and loved. He would begin an update on the three of you in the first 10 minutes of any meeting.
No one knows why God takes the best ones so soon but we’re sure he has been welcome in heaven with open arms. We will keep you in our prayers and Joe in our hearts. Rest in peace, our friend.
