Werkmeister, Ruth Irene

January 21, 1926 - October 25, 2023

Ruth Irene Werkmeister 97 years old of Crestwood MO, passed on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023. She was born to Joseph and Ella Lemberger on January 21, 1926 in St. Louis, MO. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 60 years, Arthur Werkmeister, son Stephen Werkmeister, sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Jim Ernst, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Glenn and Dorothy Stoverink and grandsons David Winters and Scott Bradrick . She is survived by her children Vicki (Tom) Dunn, Diane (Michael) Neely, Gwen (Kevin) McComy, Joyce (Ken) Boland, Paul (Mary) Werkmeister and Jane (Brad) Hove, 23 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be on Monday, October 30th at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church 1420 South Sappington Road, Crestwood MO 63126. Visitation from 9:30-11:00 am, Mass at 11:00 am with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery at Mackenzie and Watson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Elizabeth of Hungary church would be appreciated. Art and Ruth were members since its founding in 1956.

  2. Our condolences to all of Ruth’s family. She was a lovely lady who was very proud of her family (and rightfully so). I am so glad we had a chance to visit with her this past summer. To bad we didn’t make it a regular monthly visit. Our prayers are with you all.

  4. Aunt Ruth was also my godmother, a lovely witness of faith and gratitude. My thoughts with prayers are with my cousins and all whose lives Ruth touched.

  5. So sorry for your loss.. She was such a lovely person. I played golf with Ruth for many years and so enjoyed her company. I know all of her family will greatly miss her.
