In Loving Memory

Windsor-Evans, Marilyn

Marilyn Windsor-Evans of Hillsboro Mo passed away peacefully at her home on Aug 24th 2024 after a brief bout of pneumonia in conjunction with her chronic lung disease. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and faithful member of her church.

She was born Marilyn Ann Campbell on February 28th, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kansas. In her youth, she excelled in playing cello, participated in the high school pep club, Y-Teens, and cheerleading. After attending high school, she went to Fort Scott Junior College for a semester. She then took a job with Western Insurance Company. While working there, she met the love of her life, Ronnie Cole Windsor. They married on June 4, 1966, in Pittsburg, KS. She left the insurance company when Ronnie took a teaching position in St. Louis, MO.

Marilyn and Ronnie started a family and had two children: Todd and Scott. She considered herself very lucky to have the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mother while her children were young. As her children grew older, she worked a short time as a secretary for the Mehlville School District, then she started a professional cleaning service for homes and offices, which she loved. After Ronnie became ill, she devoted her life to his care until he passed away in November 2000.

On December 29, 2001, she married Al Evans. The two of them began traveling with friends on bus trips and particularly enjoyed MLB spring training trips to Florida. Marilyn was a devout member of her church Windsor Baptist, where she enjoyed singing at area nursing homes with other women from the church, calling themselves Joyful Sound. She became close to Al’s children and grandchildren, and loved them as her own.

She is survived by her husband Alfred (Al) Evans of Hillsboro, MO; sister Kathy Hogan of Albuquerque, NM;  her children: Todd (Kimberly) Windsor of Olathe, KS, and Scott (Dana) Windsor of Webb City, MO; her precious grandchildren, Gage (Shelby) Windsor of Belton, MO, Kayla (Gaige) Crockett of Webb City, MO, Colton (Kylie) Windsor of Columbia, MO, and Makenzie Windsor (fiancé Quinton Shanks) of Webb City MO; stepchildren Dawn Evans, Gina Palombo (Dean Clore), Natalie Sund, and Steve Palombo. Step-grandchildren: Nick, Jake, Tessa, Olivia, and Noelle as well as her great-grandchildren Hudson and Oliver with 2 more expected this year.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ronnie Windsor, parents Johnie and grace Campbell, and her sister Margaret King.

Services:  Visitation at Canaan Baptist Windsor Campus 6701 US Hwy 61-67 Imperial, MO 63052 Tuesday, September 3, 10am until service 12pm.  Inurnment will be at Cherokee Cemetery Cherokee, Kansas at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canaan Baptist Windsor Campus.

  1. Todd, Scott & Family

Your mom was such a wonderful lady. You have such great memories. I always thought your dad and her seemed like a fairy tale marriage. I am sure her current husband Al is just as nice or Marilyn wouldn’t have chosen him. Praying for your family during this time.

  2. Marilyn was secretary to the principal at Oakville Middle school when I came to work there. She always had a smile on her face! The office was hectic and there was more work to do than humanly possible in that office, with students, parents, teachers, faculty requesting assistance from her while she was trying to get the work assigned to her by the principal completed! She became a wonderful friend to me. She had a deep love for both husbands and families, friends, her God and church. No matter what was going on in her life I remember her with a smile on her face and determination to deal with it all!
