In Loving Memory

Withington, Robert C.

Robert Christian Withington – dedicated husband, father of four and friend to all –  passed away on April 19, 2023 at his home in Affton, Missouri. He was 68.

Bob was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 18, 1954 to Lucille Adele (Schlather) and William Nicholas Withington. He graduated from Augustinian Academy before attending St. Louis University and eventually St. Louis University School of Law. During his legal education, he met the love of his life, Maria Renee Withington (Casanova), and they married in 1985. Bob and Maria spent over 40 years working together to provide every advantage for their children, Casey Eloise Coats (Bumiller), Daniel Louis Bumiller, Andrew William Withington, and Shannon Michelle Withington.

Through the years, Bob enjoyed the practice of real estate law, had a deep appreciation for the music of his youth, and made friends wherever he went. Bob was a stranger to no one and found great purpose sharing in the successes, joys, and challenges of those around him. Bob was a vigorous advocate in his profession and wholeheartedly present to counsel all clients, friends, and family in his life. At his home in Affton, Bob could often be found tending to the garden, probably on the phone with a friend while doing so.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents William and Lucille, as well as his brother, Richard “Dick” Withington, and nephew, Stephen Withington. He is survived by his wife, Maria, their children, Casey, Daniel, Andrew, and Shannon, their grandchildren, Alexander Bright, Ayden Coats, Lenah Bumiller, Keira Bumiller, Zoe Bumiller, and Petrona Withington, his siblings, Carol Hake and Mary Ann Rose, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In his memory, donations can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at the link below. A Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 1:00PM until time of service at 3:00PM at Kutis Funeral Home’s South County Chapel at 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, Mehlville, MO 63129. https://afsp.org/givenow/

  6. Nina, Maria, and Casey, I am utterly heartbroken to have recently discovered that Bob, my legal counsel in my business of real estate, my guide, and a mentor, has departed from this world. I never had the opportunity to express my gratitude for his unwavering support during the moments when I relied on his wisdom, and for his guidance in navigating my business endeavors. May you
find eternal serenity, my dear friend.
