Michelle Louise (nee Jennings) Zellich
October 18, 1948 – June 9, 2021
Michelle was a US Army Federal civilian employee for over 20 years, and an Army civilian contractor for another 10 years after retiring from Civil Service, serving her country well. She was extremely active in the science fiction community, chairing a large regional SF convention several years running, then running the Art Show department for several more years, while serving on the convention’s corporate board for much of that time, and was a driving force of a group that tried twice to bring the World Science Fiction Convention to St. Louis. In addition to involvement in conventions, she was also the long-standing President of the St. Louis Science Fiction Society. She was noted for liking ducks – real, cartoon, rubber, plush, and more, and was a long-time member of Ducks Unlimited despite having no interest in hunting ducks, but a great interest in wildlife, and wildlife habitat, preservation.
Michelle is survived by her husband of 32-plus years, Richard, her son Christopher and his family, Richard’s son Kingston and his family, sisters Cathy and Rebecca, a dozen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nephews, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces.
Services: Funeral at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, on Wednesday, June 16, 12;30 pm. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 pm
Michelle was a highly intelligent, motivated, energetic, kind, and splendid person. Archon will not be the same. I am sorry for your loss.

Prayers to the family. Spent a lot of time at her parents house growing up, but my strongest memory is watching and listening to her in Ritenour’s “Flower Drum Song” and when I was older, wishing I had her bravery to do the things she did that I thought would be fun, like the science fiction society, but was too shy to even try.

So sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed seeing Michelle when she came with Cindi to do yoga at Webster Groves Recreation Center. I was hoping to see her when she felt safe enough to come after Covid. I am the yoga instructor. She will be missed

Our long suffering treasurer, secretary and president of StLSFS will be truly missed. Loved having her as a member of “Girls Night Out and Girls Night Inn.”
I’ll never forget Michelle being “Sunny Day” at my department’s annual Christmas Party in full costume singing “In Olden Days” as part of our “Tonight Show parody.”
Richard, she was the best, and I know how much she loved and cherished the you two had together. My deepest condolences to you and the families. She will be missed in our hearts but lives on in our souls.

Michelle was a great friend, neighbor and a an outstanding leader in science fiction fandom. Both Michelle and Rich were avid readers of science Fiction all their lives. Michelle was the leader of the Red Hat society.
Michelle was like a sister to me especially when we moved. In her sub division. I miss her smile, her interest and kindness
