Willie Franklin Bowles—known simply as Frank to all who knew him—passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on November 15, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved so fiercely. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, generosity, and down-to-earth authenticity that will be fondly remembered.
Frank was born in LaGrange, Georgia, to Willis and Mary Bowles, who preceded him in death. He grew up alongside his much loved siblings, Fay Hood and the late Fred Bowles. After graduating from LaGrange College, Frank served in the United States Air Force Reserve, where his attention to detail and steady dedication set the tone for the life he would build.
While stationed in St. Louis, Frank met his beloved wife, Jane Leimbach. They married in 1967 and promptly shipped off to Hickam Air Force Base, where he fulfilled his service as a cartographer.
Together Frank and Jane raised three children—Scott (Sandy), Amanda, and Lindsey (Eric)—who were the pride and joy of his life. Frank later welcomed five grandchildren—Alison (Tyler), Devon, Elowyn, Ben, and Anna—each of whom he adored and delighted in.
After his service in the Air Force Reserve, Frank embarked on a long and fulfilling career in sales. He often said that he didn’t have customers; he had friends. His integrity, sincerity, humor, and storytelling built relationships that lasted far beyond any business transaction. Frank never met a stranger, and every room he entered became a bit funnier just because he was in it.
Frank loved many things throughout his life: a good round of golf, a new project at the house, and any chance to fix something or lend a hand. A devoted do-it-yourselfer, he tackled everything from home repairs to community needs with the same unwavering determination. He served on several committees and boards, always stepping forward when someone needed help, guidance, or simply a reliable set of hands.
Frank was a colorful storyteller, a loyal friend, and above all, a truly good man. His life was rich not because of the things he owned but because of the people he loved and the lives he touched.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, three children, five grandchildren, sister, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton, with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. All who felt the warmth of Frank’s friendship are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
