Scott Homan

In Loving Memory

Homan, Scott Thomas

April 15, 1944 - August 8, 2026

Scott Thomas Homan died without warning of cardiac arrest on August 8th in Frankfurt, Germany. He was in transit with his entire family (wife, son, daughter and son-in-law and 2 grandchildren) coming home from a wonderful trip to Italy. The family continued home the following day based on the advice of the US Embassy and have made arrangements for Scott to be transported.

Scott Homan was a loving husband of 54 years to Christine (nee Jubel) Homan, beloved father to Cynthia Behr (Michael) and Eric Homan, and Grandfather to Isabel and Mason Behr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gladys Homan, his sister Barbara Kraft and his youngest child Devin Homan who died just a year earlier on 8/1/2025.

Scott was Born April 15, 1944, and grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri.  He loved playing baseball and fishing while growing up. He graduated from Kirkwood Highschool in 1962 as a National Merit Finalist and received a full academic scholarship to Washington University in St. Louis, where he also was a pitcher and obtained his mechanical engineering degree in 1966.

His first job out of college was with Nooter Corporation where he worked for a year. He then enlisted in the navy and went to officer school in Newport, Rhode Island in 1967. He served 3 years; first in the Shipyard in New York and then his second term in Danang, Vietnam where he was Head of Public Works on the Naval base during the war. Upon returning home he attended Missouri University at Columbia and obtained his MBA in December 1971 and then worked for Emerson Electric several years. He met Christine Jubel in the fall of 1970, and they married on June 17, 1972. He spent 36 years with Spartan Light Metal products and retired as Executive Vice President of Business Planning and Development in 2009.

Scott loved his church, Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder, and with Christine chaired and served on several steering committees in the 1980s and 1990s as the church was growing rapidly and expanding. In the fall of 2003, he was instrumental in the negotiation process leading to the acquiring of the Target property and served as Chair of the building committee when the church moved from the Afton location to the old Target location on South Lindbergh in 2005. Currently, Scott was excited to be on the building committee for the Church’s next expansion.

Scott and Christine both dedicated their time, talent, and treasure to 14 charitable organizations. Some of these organizations included Family Forward, Pastoral Leadership Institute, Brown School of Social Work (Washington University), Lutheran Family and Children Services, and serving on the boards at Lutheran Hour Ministries and Humanitri.

The things Scott enjoyed most in life was spending time with his wife and family, watching the Saint Louis Cardinals, traveling, reading, dinners with close friends and playing golf (now with his son, Devin and Pastor Greg in heaven).

Scott will be missed by all who knew him – he was warm hearted, faithful, loyal, supportive, patient, level-headed, intelligent, had a quiet sense of humor, and a man of integrity and honor.
