Nicholas

In Loving Memory

Kania, Nicholas Joseph

passed unexpectedly at home in Fenton, Missouri on October 23, 2021.

Nick was born on February 2, 1987 in St. Louis. He spent much of his childhood in Imperial before moving to Onalaska, Wisconsin where he graduated from Onalaska High School in 2005. He met his ex-wife, Anna in 2006 and became a Jaji (‘father’ in Anna’s native Ho-Chunk language) to Max and Ayla. His younger children, Bug (Bella) and Leo, came after Nick and Anna relocated from Wisconsin to Missouri and married in 2008.

Nick easily and warmly welcomed friends and in-laws into his inner family circle and cherished their relationships. He was an avid gamer and fisherman and loved building computers and following Cardinals baseball. Nick recently developed a passion for gravel and mountain biking, which he loved to share with his four children. His easygoing nature and infectious smile brought joy to everyone around him and his love and support will be greatly missed.

Nick is survived, first and foremost, by his children, Max, Ayla, Bug (Bella) and Leo. They were the light of his universe. He is also survived by his parents, Alan and Deborah Kania, brother, Tony (Kim) Kania, cousins, Andrew Sparling and Nicole Sparling, aunt, Victoria Sparling, nieces, Lily and Daisy Sparling, uncle, Michael Frailey, paternal grandmother, Nerissa Kania, maternal grandmother, Ginny Valenzuela, maternal step-grandmother, Sandra Frailey, and his co-parent partner, Anna (Blackdeer) Kania. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Matthew Kania, maternal grandfather, Gordon Frailey, and his sister-in-law’s mother, Linda Davidson.

Nick’s family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton Chapel at 10151 Gravois Road on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 4:00 pm.

  3. Debbie, Ginny and family,
I cannot express how shocked and saddened I am to learn of Nick’s passing. In the order of life as we know it, parents should not bury their children. Deb, I can only imagine the anguish and sorrow you feel. Please know that you are in my prayers and always will be. Ginny, my dear, Jerry and I are here for you, whatever you need. Much love, peace, comfort and solace to all of you.
