Ryan, Virginia Ann (nee Roth)
Passed away peacefully August 23, 2023. Beloved wife of the late James J. Ryan, Jr. (married May 15, 1954 for 61 years), mother of Mark (Roxann), Daniel (Minka), David (Robin) and James (Sue-yin). Grandmother of Jonathan, Sara (Robert Koziatek), Tyler (Rosalie Swingle), Tabitha, Mason, Brooke and Dylan. Great grandmother of Ava, Christopher and Natalie.
Descendant of the Tettamble/Detample, Roth, Stitzel family lines of the Great Swabian Migration of German and French-speaking Catholics. In the mid-1700s, whole family groups moved from west Germany/Alsace-Lorraine, France to the Banat/Danube River regions of then Hungary (later known as Austria-Hungary and Yugoslavia, and now as Serbia and Romania) before migrating in significant numbers to North America in the early 1900s.
Ginny was born April 22, 1932 and grew up in the Carondelet area of south St. Louis. She and her late brother Robert Roth were children of immigrant shopkeepers. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1950 and enjoyed a life-long friendship with her girlfriends. She was the school secretary at St. Pius X Catholic school in Glasgow Village for 30 years and dear friend of former principal Sr. Virginia Kaminski.
