I just found out today that Aunt Eileen passed away. My condolences to all family members. She was a beautiful person…..inside and out. Will always remember that big, beautiful smile and small stature of hers. I know she will be missed so much by you all.

My favorite memory of Aunt Eileen centers around her great sense of humor. Eileen and my mom were having a garage sale at Eileen’s house. We were sitting outside at the check-out table, when a fancy sports car pulled up and out stepped a 30-something year old gentleman and his very well dressed mother. They were noticeable because they were overly dressed for garage sale-ing, he in his polo shirt with turned up collar, her with her updo, skirt and heals. As they walked around the tables, she would point to things, shake her head, and turn up her nose. The son would pick something up with two fingers, make a disapproving face, and drop it back on the table. Mom and Eileen noticed the two and exchanged glances. As the two went to leave, they stopped by the table where we were siting and the mother declared in a haughty, loud voice, “Let’s go. There is nothing I want here.” Eileen, without missing a beat replied, “There is nothing I want here either. That’s why we’re having a garage sale.” It was priceless. Rest in peace, Aunt Eileen, you will be missed.

I remember back when I was a child, Aunt Eileen invited me to her house and let me win the board game I brought. Or perhaps she was bad at the board game. I’m going to miss her, but I’m sure God has a place at His football watch parties for her.

I remember watching the Superbowl with Aunt Eileen, and learning several new words to describe the poor playing of the Rams and the general moral depravity of the Patriots. Football won’t be the same without her. I’ll miss her.

I have fond memories of the times when Eileen and Kitty would come to the house. We would talk for hours, solving all the world’s problems. No matter how long we visited, at the end of the evening, we would walk to the door, as if to leave, and stand there talking another 10 to 15 minutes. I miss those times, but the memories will last.
