Michael

In Loving Memory

Brueckmann, Michael ‘Mike’ A.

Michael ‘Mike’ A. Brueckmann

February 16, 1946 – April 21, 2022. Mike passed away on April 21, 2022 at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Lauren, brother Korte (Barbara), nephew Tor, and niece Karen. Mike was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri near Tower Grove Park. He graduated from Southwest High School. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla after his enlistment in the Navy. He rejoined the Navy as an Officer after college, was elevated to the rank of Commander, and remained involved through the Naval Reserve for many years. This afforded him the opportunity for many adventures traveling throughout the US and to foreign countries. He obtained his Professional Engineer license and worked as an engineer at Union Electric for many years. Meanwhile, his passion remained for the Navy, through which he made life-long friends, and he was an active member of several military organizations. He enjoyed collecting artillery, and he traveled across the country to acquire enough of it to eventually establish the Jefferson Barracks Ordnance Museum. In addition to the Navy, Mike had several passions and hobbies throughout his life. He started a decades-long antique telephone collection at a young age. As a young man, he played volleyball, basketball, ran track and field, and explored caves with other spelunkers. He canoed the beautiful rivers of the Ozarks. He enjoyed teaching others to shoot at the range. His passion for pyrotechnics led to his operation of professional fireworks displays around the St. Louis area for years. It seemed he knew a little bit about everything; he was an avid reader, and he knew how (or was willing to try) to fix most things. He couldn’t go somewhere without running into a friend. Mike was very generous and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a unique sense of humor and will truly be missed by his family and friends.
