Mary lived a blessed life for 103 years and was dearly loved. She loved three things above all else: her FAMILY, her FAITH, and the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS.

She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, numbering 102 descendants.

She was a life-long member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, where she attended daily Mass, and served the church in many ways – including the Legion of Mary, Confraternity of Christian Women, the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, and hosting the St. Andrew Quilters every Thursday for 52 years in her home.

As a young girl, her father taught her how to keep score during a baseball game, and she continued doing so her entire life. She listened to or watched every game her beloved Cardinals played, never giving up on them.

She and Martin met in church, and enjoyed working together with the Society of St. Vincent DePaul and the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed playing cards and games, doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, and writing poems.

She taught us all to “Trust in the Lord” and lived that every day of her life.

Special love and thanks to the wonderful St. Croix Hospice Team, Val, Alexis, and Dean, and the amazing help from Amada Senior Care staff, Paris and Lena.

  2. To all my cousins, I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mom! What a wonderful life she lived! I don’t know of any other person who lived, a more fulfilled life than her. Not only having a beautiful family, but all the volunteering she did throughout her lifetime! No one can compare to her, ever! She will be dearly missed!

  4. Although I didn’t have the privilege of knowing Mary Teresa Budde personally, I know how deeply loved she was and how incredible of a mother she was to have raised her daughter who I know as Teresa Skyles. A mother’s love leaves a mark on our hearts that never fades.

I’m praying that God surrounds your family with His peace and comfort during this incredibly difficult time.

  5. To all my cousins who just lost their mom, I am sorry for you loss. It’s been forever since I have been in contact with any of you. But reading this has brought back many memories of the wonderful times I had growing up and visiting St Louis to spend time with cousins, aunts and uncles. One memory in particular is running around a maze of quilting tables in her basement. Strange the things that come to mind. Love to all of you.

  6. Aunt Mary’s life and values have always been such an inspiration! Judy, I remember fondly the times Mike and I would stay over at your house. Even as a kid I was amazed by how much Aunt Mary could handle all at once and still be smiling and kidding around and making it all look easy. Such incredible energy and life! I’m sure she will continue to be with you in many ways. Sending love to all my cousins. May grief be gentle and memories richly enjoyed.

  9. To all my Budde relatives:
We Ziches all grew up enjoying fun, memorable trips to St. Louis visiting you and our many other cousins, aunts, and uncles. Aunt Mary, your dear Mom, always welcomed us with outstretched arms, oodles of delicious food, and took the time to talk with us each individually, which always felt very special to me. Faith and family were clearly the cornerstones of her life.
    Peace to all.

  10. We used to attend st Andrews. Our only daughter at that time was about 10 (Olivia) and went to the quilting at Mary’s home once. Mary was about 90 at this time. She was always a blessing and such a steadfast woman of faith & kind. Blessings to her family especially Steve and Theresa
