In Loving Memory

Carl, Bobby G.

Carl, Bobby G. Wednesday October 9, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Helen V. Carl (nee Cullen). Our dear uncle, great uncle and friend to all.

Bobby was born  and raised in East St. Louis, Il. He attended East St. Louis High where he excelled in sports, playing basketball, baseball and football. These exceptional skills led him to the special service unit during his Army career.

After graduating high school, he extended his learning by attending Western Military Academy in Alton, Il. There he met men who would remain friends for a lifetime, but that’s true for all of Bobby’s friends, strong and steady relationships through every stage of life.

Bobby entered the business world as a broker. He was successful and well recognized in his field after winning Broker of the Year locally and once as National Broker of the Year.

Bobby was a master storyteller. He would entertain friends and family with hilarious tales that brought rounds of laughter no matter how many times you heard them recited.

Bobby married the love of his life, Helen, in 1972. She often rolled her eyes and exclaimed “not that story again!” But by the end, she too was giggling in amusement. They had a romance to envy, always content in each other’s company and always supporting each other through thick and thin. They adored each other.

Unfortunately, a stroke took Bobby’s ability to effectively tell his yarns but it didn’t stop him from being his out going, gregarious self. He charmed the staff at Friendship Village-Sunset Hills, where he spent the final years of his life. They loved him and he in turn loved them.

Bobby Carl, our Uncle Bob, was admired by many, never met a stranger and always made friends roar with laughter. He will be missed beyond measure.

We’d like to acknowledge the excellant care Bobby received at Friendship Village-Sunset Hills and thank them for their generous acts of service.

Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Tuesday October 15 at 10:00 am. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Christmas Fund at Friendship Village appreciated. Visitation Monday 4-8 pm.

  1. Will miss Uncle Bob. Loved listening to all his incredible experiences he shared before we watched the Blues play their game. So much fun. Rest in Peace.

  2. An Awesome Friend of my Parents. Grew up enjoying the Jergens samples, hearing his stories and much laughter and fun with all the Daly’s Crew at the ball games and picnics. Bobby never knew a stranger, was life of the party! I am thankful for his friendship. Rest in eternal peace, we will celebrate a life well lived.
