passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Loving husband of Renata Cushman (nee Tsalamandris) of 7 years; fur daddy of dogs: Peanut, Pepper, Daisy, of cat: Freddie Mercury, and of Chinchillas: Smokey and Bandit; beloved son of Judy Skaggs (nee Hausner) and the late John Cushman;  dearest brother of Frank (Stacy), Bernard “Bernie” (the late Cindy), Herman (Chris), Mike (Rose), John (Angie), Derone, Susan “Sue” Cushman, Samantha (James) Cronk, Mistie (Randy Crowe) Cushman-Crowe and Stormie Cushman; dear son-in-law of Frank Sr. and Sandy Hewitt; brother-in-law of Frank Hewitt Jr., Robert “Eddie” (Jennifer) Embly and Ryan Hewitt; our dear nephew, uncle, cousin and friend of many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Missouri Department of Conservation, Donations, PO BOX 180, Jefferson City, MO 65102.

Visitation Saturday, April 4, 11:00 a.m. until Service 2:00 p.m. at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 GRAVOIS RD.

  1. Herbie, what an amazing brother!! I’m gonna miss that silly little grin when he would say hi sammi, or love you sammi!!! Such a big heart!! You will be missed more than you could know!! Love you so much Herbie!!!

  2. Herb was a man that many loved and admired, he was hard-working, kind, caring and fun to be around. Jesse and I were blessed to have known him and thankful for the time we shared. Forever in our hearts until we meet again.

  4. All I can think is Heaven must have needed a good person capable of looking over the rest of us.
    I will always remember our friendship, adventures, conversations, and laughs! You made the world better during your time with us. The amount of people you helped or made smile is endless. Rest easy Buddy.

  5. I was honored and privileged to call Herb one of my best friends over the past 27 years.. All I can think is Jesus needed some heavy equipment worked on in Heaven Buddy I am going to miss our weekly conversations, and your positive outlook on things. You were one of the best Men I have ever known. Rest well my Friend until we see each other again.

  6. Herb was the guy always willing to help someone and willing to give the shirt off his back, he will be missed by all. RIP Herbie !
