Passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024
Elizabeth Anne “Libby” Elliott Moore was born to the late Howard and Margaret Elliott on April 20, 1945. Beloved wife to the late Dennis Moore; mother to Patrick Clancy (Stephanie) and Kevin (Emily) Moore; grandmother to Abigail, Matthew, Clara and Nolan; beloved sister, aunt and friend to many.
Libby enjoyed 50 years of marriage to Dennis, until his passing in 2018. She was a devoted, loving mother to Clancy and Kevin, as well as a proud and adoring Mimi to her four grandchildren. Libby was born and raised in Southwest Missouri, attending college at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education and was an active member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She began her career as a teacher at St. Joan of Arc School in St. Louis, and later became a receptionist and library secretary at John Burroughs School in Ladue. As her sons got older, she returned to school at Mizzou, where she earned a master’s degree in library science. After graduation, she took a position as Head Librarian at St. Louis University High School, where she stayed for 17 years until she retired in 2007, when she then became the greatest babysitter and Mimi ever. Libby loved to be social, and she had meaningful friendships over the years among her classmates, neighbors, and coworkers, as well as her in-laws and extended family. Her sunny personality, humor, and generosity easily lent her the superlative of “the sweetest lady you’ve ever met.” She was an avid reader as well as a creative writer. She loved travel and having fun, she loved helping people, she loved her family, and she will be deeply missed.

Libby, I have so many sweet and funny memories of all our times together at Greenwood High School. We used to giggle at everything. So glad that you, Judy and I got together in Phoenix in 2013. We will see each other again I know.
My sincere and prayerful condolences to the Moore family. Libby and I started our SLUH careers together in 1990. She was a beloved colleague and friend for those 17 years she was there. May she rest in peace.
I work at the nursing home Libby resided at. Libby was such a unique person who had a great smile. Even though she could not really communicate verbally, she could communicate with facial expressions some of which were hilarious from a big smile, to a chuckle, to an eye roll. She could always make people laugh. She was very sweet and you could see in her eyes that she had a good sense of humor. Everybody loved Libby. She will be deeply missed. My deepest condolences to Clancy, Kevin, and the rest of the family. Libby is at peace. May her memory be a blessing. May she rest in peace.
To Clancy, Kevin, and all the Moore family…..I am so sorry to hear about Libby. Like Nancy said, I’m so glad we 3 amigos got together in Phoenix. Libby was so much fun in high school, college, and all these years later. She and Dennis loved to travel and spend time with the grandkids. We kept in touch through the years and I have the best memories of times we spent together. You are all in my prayers and Libby will be missed, but is our guardian angel now!
