Jim was an exceptional gentleman and role model. He was among those who welcomed me into my first professional job. During the many years that followed, Jim modeled professionalism, as well as endless kindness and inquisitiveness. As a scientist, he routinely surprised me with inventive approaches. As a friend, he was generous and thoughtful…and, with a sense of humor that frequently left me asking ‘is he teasing?’
