Karen Rae Fischer passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, at 12:40 AM, at the age of 67. She was born on July 8, 1957, to Carole and the late Charles Fischer.
Karen was a woman of unwavering faith, kindness, and strength. She dedicated her life to her family and to God, always leading with love, compassion, and generosity. A hard worker in every aspect of her life, she never hesitated to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word, or support those in need. Her warmth and spirit touched everyone she met.
She is survived by her four loving children: Clayton Fete (Erin), Sean Fete (Christine), Gabrielle Eakes (Megan), and Caitlin Beard (Brett). She was a proud grandmother to Cora, Charlotte, Layla, and Travis. She is also survived by her mother, Carole Fischer, and her siblings, Mike Fischer, Kim Herwig, Kristy Bowenschulte, and Amy Ryan.
Karen’s love for her family was endless, and she took immense joy in being a mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. Her presence brought light into the lives of those around her. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed, but the lessons she taught and the love she gave will live on forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition in her memory.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20th, from 5–8 PM at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton. The Mass will be on Friday, February 21st, at 10 AM at Assumption Church, followed by burial and a gathering for friends and family.
Bob & I are so sorry for your loss Gaby & Megan. I hope the wonderful memories of your Mom keep her close to your heart!
Mom, you truly were an angel on earth—selfless, hilarious, and unbelievably strong. Every room you entered felt warmer, brighter, and full of love. The world was so lucky to have you, and now Heaven has the honor. I love you—until we see each other again.
Carole, Kim and family,
Our hearts break for you. It is our prayer that God will comfort you and your family during this difficult time. May he richly bless you as you mourn the loss of your sweet daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Love, Tony & Mary Russo
My deepest sympathy to all of Karen’s family and close friends. Karen’s smile could light up a room, but the mischief behind it is what I’ll always remember most about her. She was always “up to something” at SLU when we worked with her, but most of us took it all in stride until we all almost got fired because we went along with one of her schemes lol Back then, her children were young, but you could just tell how proud she was of them and the joy that they brought her. I’m sad that I won’t be able to be there to celebrate her life and reminisce with others because I’m sure it would bring back many happy memories. Some people just spread joy wherever they go and Karen was one of those special people. Fly high and party on with our friend Sharon! Rest in peace SLU friend.
Who knew we would still be the best of friends 23 years later. You were always a funny and loving person. Your kindness extend to my daughters and family. We love you, but are happy you’re at peace.
Kim, Carole, and family,
We feel like we’ve been part of your family for 30 years, and we love you all. We adored Karen, and she will be greatly missed. We are always here for anything that your family needs.
With all our love,
Clark and Noelle
