Gerding-crop

In Loving Memory

Gerding, Lyda Helene (nee Edmison)

Age 81, passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Lyda was born September 27, 1940 in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to parents Mary Willie Bell and James Bean Edmison. Lyda attended Normandy High School in Wellston, Missouri. She fell in love with Fred “Tony” Gerding, and the two married on September 14, 1959, in Waterloo, Illinois. The two were happily married for almost 63 years and spent their life together in and around Saint Louis, Missouri.

Lyda was a kind and loving soul, who cherished her time with her family, especially her seven grandchildren who adored her. She was always ready to help out anyone and everyone who came to her in need. She was “that grandma” at the school plays, sporting events, dance and gymnastic recitals, birthday parties, and graduations. All of her grandchildren, now grown, continued to enjoy spending a lot of time with her. She was the center of the family. Lyda will be missed by all who knew her, including her dog, Bella, whom she spoiled like her grandkids!

Lyda is survived by her husband, Fred “Tony” Gerding; her three children: Mark (Barb) Gerding, Toni “Michelle” Hodge, and James “Chris” (Anne) Gerding; and her seven grandchildren: Jamie Hodge and Samantha (Darius) Joshghani, David (Anna) Gerding and Jeffrey Gerding, and Emily, Abbey, and Casey Gerding. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jan Gerding, niece, Theresa (Mike) Busby, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Virginia “Jesse” Scott.

Service; Memorial visitation at Kutis South County (5255 Lemay Ferry) on Saturday 9/17 from 3PM until 5PM. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis. http://www.strayrescue.org/lydagerding

  7. Rest In Peace Lydia, I’ll still bring Molly over to play with Bella. It won’t be the same with out you calling me from the door. I loved our friendship. We were brought together by our dogs. I know you are surrounded by several that crossed the bridge earlier. Keep smiling!
