Zach-Holloran

In Loving Memory

Holloran, Zachary Muir

Zachary Muir Holloran, age 30, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on August 31st 2022. He was born December 30th, 1991 to Darla and Robert Holloran. He was a loving brother to Thomas, Tara and Charles. He was a new uncle to Chester. He was a grandson to Rita Sutton and Kathryn (Garland) Certain. Great nephew to Jean (John) Schwentker. Nephew to Dan Holloran, Nancy (Phil) Gibson, Bill (Shalisha) Holloran and Laura Sutton (Michael) Ruby. He was a cousin to Del, Graham, Coul, Daniel, Mason, Becca, Grace, Caroline and Nicholas. He was a friend to many.

Zachary grew up in Fenton, Missouri and he attended Rockwood Summit High School where he participated in theater, swimming and wrestling. He then attended St. Louis Community College where he took art classes. After that he trained at the Job Corp to become a welder, however the traditional lifestyle never suited Zachary.

Zachary left this world doing something he loved, swimming in the river. He was a free-spirit and lived his life independently, just how he wanted. He loved the outdoors and exploring. He loved it so much that he made it his home, many of us would say that Zach was homeless but he loved to tell everyone he was home-free.

Zachary’s love for the water began when he was a young child. He spent his days in his back yard pool and was determined to become a great swimmer. In the summer he loved floating on Jacks Fork river and boating at Kentucky Lake with his family. Everyone could see just how much he enjoyed being outside and in the water. He wanted to travel along the Mississippi River by boat.

Zachary was extremely creative. He had a god-given talent for art. He had the ability to create something out of nothing. Things others might see as useless Zach could turn into something amazing. He loved coming up with inventions; he once built a bicycle that he could use his arms to pedal. Biking was also something he loved to do.

He recently got into sculpture making and told his family that he wanted to pursue it. He enjoyed building wooden sculptures especially. He was an amazing sketch artist and also loved abstract painting. He spent a lot of time in the Loop drawing caricatures for people for just 5 dollars.

Anyone who knew Zachary recognized just how special he was. Everyone  knew of his kind heart and soul. He could talk to anyone and enjoyed telling them his wild stories and we all loved hearing them. He loved to make everyone laugh and sure was great at it.

Zachary may have been misunderstood by some, but he truly lived his life the way he wanted to; authentically, creatively, and most importantly freely, which is much braver than most. We don’t believe he had any regrets.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to

Artists First STL, a place that helped Zachary pursue his passion for art and meant a lot to him.

NAMI, National Alliance of Mental Illness, a place that provides services for not only those in need like Zachary, but also the family that supports them. This organization was a huge help to Zachary and his mother.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel 10151 Gravois, Saturday September 10, 10:30 AM.
Visitation Friday September 9, 4:00-7:00 PM.

  1. I loved Zach! The last time I saw him he was creating art at the family farm. Zach did in fact have a kind soul and he left a lasting impression on my heart. We are praying for all of his family and sending hugs from Kentucky.

  5. Darla, Rita, Laura, Jean and family….I am so sad to read of Zach’s transition from this life as we know it. I believe in reading his story, that he was an amazing, authentic young man who felt the spiritual deeply and felt too restrained by this world. Please know I am always here if any of you ever need a listening ear or anything. Please know I hold all of you in my heart and will be in prayer for everyone.

  9. May God fill your hearts and hold you up with wonderful memories of Zach. Reading about him and never knowing him even leaves a void of emptiness, feeling I missed out by never meeting him. Through loving and kind words gives comfort for someday we meet in spirit and I know him. Jesus I pray for you

  11. I hope this is a comforting to you as it has been to me this week…
    Death Is Nothing At All
    -Henry Scott-Holland
    Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.

Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
    Sending hugs and prayers,

  19. Zachary was the first of our Judebabies born to such an important family in Darla , Bob, Rita and followed by amazing brothers Thomas and Charles. and a beautiful and spunky sister ,Tara. Zachary was creative and strong willeld, passionate, kind most of the time and quirky which was why Roscoe’s felt especially close to him. ( Julie anyway. Who now writes in third person. Zachary challenged everyone who met him to ask “why” or “why not”? Like all Holloran’s he loved fiercely and deeply. He will be missed but he lived a life of great and often a monoid adventure. He challenged us to be better, even whe.n it was hard and took a lot of effort. In all things in missing him and loving him and each other need matter what ,we salute the assurance that love is worth the effort. Thank you for being in my life and in our family life . We love you all and ache for you but know you are loved .

  23. Darla and Bobo-I am so very sorry for the loss of Zach! I had the privilege to get to know him while in our welding classes.. it was very obvious he was special! He thought differently and could not be “boxed” in by others. I really enjoyed our conversations…he must be much happier being himself in a better place! Many prayers to you all
