Hunt, Janet Warrene (née Baldwin)

September 8, 1942 - February 18, 2025

Janet Warrene Hunt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on February 18, 2025. Born on September 8, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph W. Baldwin Jr. and Marian A. Baldwin and sister to the late Joseph W. Baldwin III.

Janet graduated from Southwest High School in St. Louis, where she met the love of her life, Joseph Hunt. They married on November 30, 1963, and later settled in South County to raise their loving family. Janet attended the University of Missouri, where she was a proud member of Alpha Chi Omega.

In the late 1980s, Janet embarked on a successful real estate career with Coldwell Banker Realty. Her professional ascent continued as she managed Coldwell Banker Gundaker’s top-producing office in Sunset Hills during the 1990s, respected for her leadership and commitment to excellence. Her distinguished career was highlighted by her tenure as chairman of the Missouri Real Estate Commission, where she was renowned for her expertise and dedication to the real estate profession.

Naples, Florida, became their cherished second home, where Janet and Joseph enjoyed many happy years at Stonebridge Country Club. Here, Janet made numerous friends and enjoyed playing Mahjong and Bridge. She was also a proud member of The Women of the 239, engaging actively in its mission to support women through friendship, community, generosity, discovery, and wellness. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Janet never missed a game and often shared this passion with her friends and family.

Janet is survived by her devoted husband of over 61 years, Joseph J. Hunt Jr.; daughter Barbara Pilas and her husband Eric; daughter Tracy Meetre; son Scott Hunt and his wife Kim; and her 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She was predeceased by her son Joseph J. Hunt III who is survived by her daughter-in-law Olga Hunt.

Janet’s legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123 on Friday, February 21 from 3-8 pm. and on Saturday, February 22 from 9-10 am. with a celebration of Janet’s life at 10:00 am. Interment at Sunset Cemetery.
