Richard Judd

In Loving Memory

Judd, Richard

August 8, 1941 - March 22, 2025

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025.

Beloved husband of Mary Judd (nee Winter); loving father of Ryan (Lauren) Judd, Rory (Courtney) Judd, and the late Richard “Richie” Judd; adoring grandfather of Parker, Madelyn, Ellie, and Payton; dear son of the late Al and Ida Judd; dear brother of Betty (Bud) Cohn and the late Robert “Bob” (Donna) Judd Sr.; dear cousin of Luke (Phyllis), John (Colleen), and Matthew Koebbe; our dearest brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, great-great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.

A devoted husband for over 50 years, Rich was a steady and loving presence in his family’s life, sharing countless memories with his wife, Mary. Together, they raised three sons, all of whom attended Christian Brothers College High School and had the unique privilege of having their father as their math teacher. Of course Rich enjoyed being the father of all boys, but becoming a grandfather brought him a whole new sense of joy—especially when he was blessed with four granddaughters. He loved attending their music programs and sporting events.

A proud Hall of Fame alumnus of CBC High School in St. Louis, Rich carried the spirit of the school with him throughout his life. He went on to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Louis University, where he nurtured his passion for mathematics and education.

For over 40 years, Rich dedicated his career to teaching math at CBC, shaping the minds of countless students with an unwavering commitment to their success. Beyond the classroom, he coached track, football, and swimming, inspiring student-athletes with his leadership and encouragement. His love for CBC athletics extended beyond coaching, as he spent countless hours running the scoreboard at sporting events, keeping stats, and cheering on the Cadets at football and basketball games. He also volunteered tirelessly at the annual school auction and golf tournament, supported various fundraisers, and remained an integral part of the CBC community.

Rich stayed active throughout his life, refereeing boys’ and girls’ high school soccer games for nearly 40 years. He played softball with church friends, and he also played soccer on Sundays in Fenton with a group of friends for as long as he was physically able. He even went on several trips to cities such as Wilmington, Boston, and San Diego with his soccer team for the annual Veteran’s Cup. In his retirement years, he spent a lot of time playing golf with neighbors and friends.

Beyond his love for sports, Rich was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He was a fan of game shows, especially Jeopardy. He was always up for a trivia night, where he could showcase his knowledge on a variety of topics.

Rich’s dedication to his family, friends, students, and community left a lasting impact. He will be remembered for the lessons he taught and the support he gave to those around him.

  5. Maureen & I have known Rich and Mary since the late 70’s. They were always “good people” and fun to be with. We traveled to several parts of the country for Soccer Tournaments with them. Rich has certainly had his share of pain thru the years. Now he is pain free.

  8. I was saddened to hear about Rich’s passing. He was such a kind and thoughtful neighbor. I’ll remember his quiet acts of service (like bringing in my trash cans when I forgot), even when he was battling cancer, it spoke volumes about the kind of man he was for his community and his family. May he rest in peace. And Mary, I’m just a few steps away if you need anything. My deepest condolences.

Rich not only taught me algebra but he became a good friend as i got more involved at CBC. He and his co -heart, Bill Belcher where always there getting the concession stands ready for football and soccer games since my wife and I could not be there to get things going. I think it really was due to me bribing them with free hot dogs and cokes.
This is a great loss to our CBC community.
    Rest in peace my friend.
