Kalinowski

In Loving Memory

Kalinowski, David “Dave” Eugene, Sr.

September 23, 1944 - March 4, 2026

David “Dave” Eugene Kalinowski, Sr. peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 into the loving arms of God. He is survived by his beloved and cherished wife of 56 years, Margaret (Peggy) Kalinowski (nee O’Driscoll), whose relationship shone in partnership, faith, communication and enduring love. Dave is also the respected and loved father to Brian (Sara), David, Kevin (Shay) and Mary (Phil). His witty humor, loyalty and ability to speak on any topic will be missed by his children. Dave held the greatest joy of being a grandfather to many beautiful grandkids, Charlotte, Sammy, Noah, Liam, Molly and Blaise, all of whom he loved dearly. Dave is also the dearest, fond brother to Mike (Linda) and they shared an extraordinary bond. He was preceded in death and greeted in heaven by his adored parents, Gene and Fern as well as his fondly remembered brother Steve (Carol). Dave is an uncle, cousin, friend, parishioner, neighbor, and lifelong story teller to many that have shared their lives with him in great joy and companionship.

Dave was born in St. Louis, MO on Sept. 23, 1944 as the oldest child to Gene and Fern. There were many happy memories of stories shared of the house on Randall Street and then Southshire, where the Kalinowski family lived. From the time he enlisted into the Naval Reserves, Dave proved himself to be an extremely hard worker. He was a proud Navy Veteran and learned part of his trade as an electrician during his enlistment. After attending trade school, Dave established a successful career as an electrician working proudly as a Journeyman with the IBEW Local 1 Union for several decades and finished his career at Anheuser-Busch after nearly 30 years.

Throughout his life, Dave was a devoted Catholic and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus at Queen of All Saints church where he set a good example of its purpose to empower Catholic men to live their faith, support the Church, protect families, and engage in charitable acts. Dave looked forward to helping out at the fish fries and would work from start to end when needed. When asked for help he never let anyone down. Dave was a great researcher. When asked about something he would research it and a few days later he sent you all you would want to know about a topic. Dave loved to talk about the weather, directions, and baseball. One of his greatest accomplishments was his marriage to Peggy and the beautiful life they created together. He frequently brought home flowers for her from work, making sure to mention what a deal he got on them. Dave and Peggy did everything together in their treasured home on Brickmore. Dave was a dedicated father and provider, often working extra shifts for his family. At home he enjoyed family meals with desserts, barbecuing, long drives, and watching Wheel of Fortune together in between telling stories. He was an honorable and caring man.

Dave will be remembered for loquaciousness, sense of service to others and admired for his dedication and commitment to all his endeavors.

  4. A Faithful Journey Home

In early March, when winter softly yields,
Dave Kalinowski left these earthly fields.
Peacefully he slipped from time and care,
Into the arms of love beyond compare—
The loving arms of God he served so long,
Where every faithful heart at last belongs.

Fifty-six years beside his Peggy bright,
A marriage woven strong in morning light.
He brought her flowers, fresh from work each day,
A bargain found, he’d laugh and gently say.
Through every season, hand in hand they walked,
In prayer, in talk, in quiet ways they talked—
A partnership of faith that never dimmed,
A love that time and trials never trimmed.

Father to four—Brian, David, Kevin, Mary—
Each child he cherished, steady, never weary.
His wit would spark, his stories freely flow,
On weather, baseball, directions he would know.
Grandfather’s joy in Charlotte, Sammy, Noah,
Liam, Molly, Blaise—his heart would overflow.
He’d watch them play, his eyes alight with pride,
A gentle man who stayed right by their side.

Brother to Mike, a bond both deep and rare,
Two souls who shared a laughter-filled affair.
In heaven now he greets Gene, Fern, and Steve,
Reunited where no parting can bereave.
A Navy veteran, proud in service worn,
An electrician’s hands, both skilled and sworn—
    Journeyman with IBEW, Local One,
At Anheuser-Busch his labor carried on.

Fourth Degree Knight at Queen of All Saints’ door,
He lived the call to serve forevermore.
Fish fries he worked from dawn until the end,
A helping hand no one could ever bend.
When questions rose, he’d search with patient care,
Return with knowledge—more than you could bear.
A storyteller born, a neighbor kind and true,
A parishioner whose faith shone clear and new.

Now silence falls where once his voice rang free,
Yet echoes linger in sweet memory.
We grieve the loss, the empty chair, the call,
But trust the promise that outlives us all—
That Christ prepares a place of endless day,
Where Dave now walks in light that knows no gray.

His life was gift, his service pure and bright,
A candle burning steady through the night.
Rest well, dear Dave, in heaven’s welcome home,
Where love and laughter nevermore shall roam alone.

    **John 14:2-3**
“In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.”

  5. Peggy, I was deeply saddened to hear of this news. Prayers for you and your family. I always loved running into the two of you at our “mutual friends” gatherings as well as at mass. Be gentle with yourself as you navigate the road of grief. A wise friend once told me, “Grief is the price we pay for loving deeply.”
    Love you!!! Vicky Meehan
