December 18, 1949 - May 10, 2023

 

Kenneth Allan Kowall, age 73, passed away on May 10, 2023. Loving husband of Holly Borg Kowall and stepfather to Elizabeth (nee Erdman) (Suresh) Fernando and Benjamin (Michelle) Erdman, adoring grandfather to Roman and Chase Fernando, loving uncle to Dawn (nee Kowall) (Donald) Burr and great-uncle to Ashley, Alex and Amanda Burr, and a loyal friend to many.

Ken was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 18, 1949, to the late Elmer (Bud) and Lucia (nee Vertin) Kowall. He graduated from Conant High School, Hoffman Estates, Illinois in 1967. He proudly enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corp (Camp Pendleton, CA) from 1968-1970. He began his career with the Motorola Corporation (Chicago) and retired from Lucent Technologies (St. Louis).

Ken was a Freemason for 42 years and a member of Barrington Lodge #522, Chicago Lodge #437, LL Munn Chapter #96, and Palatine Chapter #206 Royal Arch Masons, Cryptic Council #46 Cryptic Masons, Bethel Commandery #36 Knights Templar, Valley of Freeport and a past Shriner.

Ken will be interred with Honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Friday, July 7, 2023. Anyone wishing to make a tribute contribution can do so at: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org.

  1. I’m so sorry I didn’t see this earlier. I worked with Ken for many years and was happy to be there to celebrate his wedding to Holly!

  2. I knew Ken from Western Electric, went fishing with him and others on Lake Michigan and he helped my sister move into her apartment after she graduated from college. I have some fun memories of his sayings.
