  3. So sorry for your loss, Toni. I remember speaking with John a time or two at work. Very enjoyable conversations.

May the peace of God be your and your family’s during this time.

  5. Sorry to find out about John’s passing. He was one of my bosses at Lincoln Engineering in north St. Louis in the late 70’s. He was quite the character, and I have many fond memories of my interactions with him.

He loved to do things on the spur of the moment – one thing I remember is he loaded a few of my co-workers and I in his car at lunchtime one day and drove us to a cookie factory (on the Hill, I think) where he used to work and gave us a tour, taking fresh cookies off the line to try.

Years later, I was working at another company & I found out a person in the cubicle next to me worked with John at the St. Louis Zoo. It sounds like he continued his spur-of-the-moment activities there. She said one day he came running in to her office and said “Come on, let’s go – (some animal) is giving birth!”, and he jumped into a golf cart with my co-worker and took off to watch the event.

R.I.P., John – you made my work life fun and memorable!
